About the Bride & Groom

Jen is a native of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and grew up in the small

town of Gwinn. She went to Central Michigan University for her undergraduate degree and attended Northern Michigan University where she completed her Master of Public Administration degree.

Jen enjoys traveling, photography, boating and making lots of

wedding checklists!!

Peter is a native of the U.P. as well. He grew up in Marquette located on Lake Superior. He attended Ferris State University where he received his degree in

heavy equipment service engineering technology.

I am not sure what that means, but I do know it means he is dirty more than he is clean! Pete loves cars and anything with a large motor. His interests include traveling, boating, detailing cars and web page design. He also loves playing with our English bulldogs, Mack & Abigail.

HOW WE MET

Pete and I were introduced to one another on January 3, 1998 by our mutual friends, Heather & Greg Steltenpohl.

At the time we were living 6 hours apart, but hit it off right from the start. We kept in touch infrequently by e-mail and whenever he was home for breaks from college. In the spring of 1998, Pete and I started e-mailing more and more and when he came home for the summer, our relationship quickly grew! We spent nearly every minute that we could together! However, at the end of the summer, it was time for him to go back to Ferris to finish up his last year and me to go back to Northern to finish my last year of graduate school. We decided to try the long distance thing, and it worked. In the spring of 1999, we both graduated and decided to live in Marquette........and now, here we are nearly 3 years later and we are now getting married!

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

February 14, 2001

HOW IT HAPPENED

After both having a busy day at work, we arrived home to exchange our Valentine's gifts to one another. I opened up a huge box to find a dancing "cha cha" bear inside. I thought it was very cute, and thought it was even more wonderful when I saw a small jewelry box sitting next to the bear! I opened it up and was totally surprised to find a beautiful engagement ring inside!!! The note on the box read, "let's cha cha forever, " and Pete then said....."will you marry me?!!" I immediately started crying and hugging him! It was so exciting. Meanwhile, my dancing bear was in the background singing, "cha cha cha......oh la la!" and the bullies were jumping around. We celebrated our engagement with a wonderful dinner at the Landmark Inn in the Sky Room overlooking the City of Marquette and Lake Superior.

It was perfect!
