[A comfortable silence befalls the pair as Tea watches the sun set and Todd watches her watching the sun set.
As the sun begins to disappear beyond the horizon, Tea turns toward Todd.]
Tea: What's next on our itinerary?
Todd: We can wait until it's totally dark.
Tea: Maybe you can but I need to eat something soon.
Todd: Do you want to eat out here? Or, we could go back to the cave. Whatever you want.
Tea: We could start a fire. I'm sure we both remember how to catch fish.
Todd: We don't need to do that this time. I brought everything we need.
Tea: You'll be cooking for us tonight?
Todd: I brought everything you'll need to cook for me.
Tea: Your sexist attitudes are still firmly in place, I see.
Todd: You always pretended you liked me the way I was.
Tea: I did, for the most part.
Todd: Why do you always add on that part at the end?
Tea: Because some of your qualities are more appealing than others.
Todd: Nothing about me is appealing.
Tea: That's not true.
Todd: Prove it!
Tea: I'm not sleeping with you.
Todd: You plan on spending the night out here by yourself?
Tea: I'll share your bed, so I can sleep comfortably, but that's all.
Todd: We can skip dinner and go to bed right now. You'll only get hungry again after we make love, anyway.
Tea: We're not making love. How many times do I have to say it before you'll finally hear what I'm telling you?
Todd: I hear what you mean underneath your words, just like I've always been able to do with you.
Tea: You have always chosen to listen more intently to the paranoid voices in your head, rather than to me. That's one of the many reasons our relationship has never worked in the past.
Todd: I won't let anything get in the way this time. I promise.
Tea: Why should I believe this time is any different than all the others?
Todd: Because I'm telling you it is.
Tea: You've told me that every other time we've tried to have a relationship.
Todd: This time I mean it. This time, you won't leave here hating me.
Tea: I will if I leave alone.
Todd: Just take the week I'm offering and get out while you can.
Tea: What will happen to you?
Todd: Nothing. It doesn't matter.
[Todd stands up.]
Todd: Food or bed?
[Tea also stand up.]
Tea: What if I want both?
Todd: When did you get kinky?
Tea: Maybe you don't know everything about me.
Todd: I know you, Delgado. That's how I knew you'd come, even if you were still pissed off at me.
Tea: I'm not upset about the past anymore.
Todd: Really?
Tea: We both made mistakes. I'm certain that, given a chance, we would both make more mistakes in the future. I think tonight we both need to decide if we'll give each other that opportunity.
Todd: I already told you, this is a one week deal.
Tea: I'm telling you, if I stay, you won't be able to get rid of me as easily this time. You need to decide if you truly want to pursue this relationship again.
Todd: All I want is one week.
Tea: If that's all you're offering, I'm not interested. I'm going back to the cave to get something to eat. I'll be leaving as soon as it's light out in the morning.
[Tea walks away. Todd follows after her.]
Todd: You're not going anywhere.
Tea: We agreed that I would leave in the morning if I wasn't satisfied with tonight. I'm not satisfied.
Todd: I never agreed to anything. You're staying!
[Tea stops and faces him.]
Tea: Why am I here?
Todd: Because you wanted to come.
Tea: Why now? Why this island? Why only one week?
Todd: It's now because this is our anniversary, sort of. It's here because you said last year that if Rayburn hadn't been here spying on us you would have walked around all the time naked and I kind of want to see that. It's only one week because that's as long as I can count on you to stick around.
Tea: You were the one who walked away from this relationship last year. Although, paddled away would be more accurate.
Todd: You know why I had to do that.
Tea: No, I don't. I especially don't know why you had to do it the way that you did.
Todd: I tried explaining it to you.
Tea: Try harder.
Todd: I did what I did to protect you.
Tea: Protect me from what?
Todd: Me.
Tea: I don't need that kind of protection.
Todd: Obviously you do. No matter how many times we try this you never figure out that it has to end in disaster.
Tea: Why does it have to?
Todd: Because it does. Because I'm Todd Manning. I don't get to be happy.
Tea: You could be, if you would allow yourself.
Todd: I tried and you walked out.
Tea: I walked out because you refused to try.
Todd: What about now? This is me trying. What's your excuse for walking out this time?
Tea: You're only offering me one week.
Todd: That's the longest I can pretend to be the guy you want.
Tea: You are the guy I want. I meant to say...
Todd: You said what you meant. Just give this a chance. For one week, I know I can hold everything together and keep myself from blowing this. You can do it for a week, too. I know you can. Just one week, Delgado. Just one week. What do you say?
