Tea is lounging on the beach, trying unsuccessfully to forget about her ex-husband. Del is nearby flirting with several scantily clad women. When he notices a strange man sit next to his sister and begin noticeably flirting with her, he excuses himself from his audience and approaches the pair.
After introducing himself and briefly conversing with the man, Del decides he isn't worthy of Tea's attention and sends him on his way. He then takes the stranger's place next to his sister.]
Del: No need to thank me.
Tea: I have no intention of doing any such thing.
Del: That guy wasn't good enough for you.
Tea: We were just talking.
Del: He was flirting.
Tea: You've spent the last hour flirting with every pair of fake breasts that jiggled your way.
Del: That's different. I have no intention of continuing any relationship that begins on this island.
Tea: Neither do I.
Del: I don't want to hear that.
Tea: Then, choose a different beach and stop interfering with my fun.
Del: You don't look like you're having fun.
Tea: I'm totally relaxed. Not a care in the world.
Del: What about that psychopath you care so much about?
Tea: Todd is not a psychopath.
Del: Sure, he is, but you love him anyway, right?
Tea: I do not love that man.
Del: You've been writing his name in the sand with your foot.
[Tea shuffles her feet in the sand, erasing Todd's name.]
Del: You love the guy. Stop making yourself miserable worrying about him.
Tea: I'm not worried. He's probably not even on that island. I'm certain that he never intended for me to meet him there. He just wanted to prove to me that he still has a hold over me.
Del: He's done that.
Tea: He's done no such thing. I didn't go to that island, did I?
Del: You came to this island.
Tea: I chose not to turn down a free trip to Hawaii. That's all!
Del: Why did you want me to come with you?
Tea: I knew Todd would stay in the shadows if he saw you.
Del: Do you think he's here?
Tea: No.
Del: Why are you so certain? He could be in disguise.
Tea: I would know if he were here. I would feel it.
Del: And, you don't?
Tea: No.
Del: What do you feel?
Tea: I don't know.
Del: You're worried about him.
Tea: What if he thinks he'll be arrested for accidentally shooting Cristian if he returns to Llanview? What if that's why he left his family this time?
Del: What if he thinks he needs the best damn lawyer there is? What if that's why he wanted you to come here?
Tea: I'll inform him that it's safe for him to return to his family.
Del: So, you are going?
Tea: Absolutely not.
Del: You're a frustrating woman. I don't know how Todd put up with you for so long.
Tea: Todd is the frustrating one. But, I would put up with a lifetime of frustration from that man, if I could. How pathetic is that?
Del: That's love. That's why I never got married. I never found anyone who was willing to put up with me, the way that you're willing to put up with him.
Tea: You will, someday.
Del: Maybe I'm getting tired of waiting.
Tea: Go back to your search.
Del: My search is pointless. So is yours, but at least you know who you're searching for, and where to find him.
Tea: You won't think less of me?
Del: I knew the first time I saw you look at him that this creep was different from all the other creeps.
Tea: He's not a creep.
Del: He blew it with the only person on the planet who actually thinks he's human. He's a stupid creep.
Tea: I shouldn't go to him. It would be a mistake. I've learned my lesson.
Del: I never wanted you with that loser to begin with. I won't waste any more time trying to convince you to follow your heart. Your head has the right idea this time.
Tea: Why won't my heart let go of him?
Del: I can't answer that. Answer me this -- are we taking that boat today.
Tea: No!
Del: Are you sure?
[Tea pauses. She wants to run from what she knows is destined to end in heartache, and she wants to run toward that heartache, because maybe the pain of losing Todd is worth every moment that she's able to spend with him.]
Tea: We'll take the boat in the morning, unless I change my mind before then. And, when we get to the island, if Todd's there and I see even a hint of a smug smirk on his face because he thinks he can control me, we're leaving.
Del: What do you think his reaction will be when he sees that I came with you?
Tea: Paranoia. He'll think that you're there to arrest him. He'll accuse me of turning him in.
Del: I would offer to stay here but I'm not letting you go out onto the ocean alone.
Tea: I don't want to be alone, not with Todd.
Del: Are you sure?
Tea: I need to find out what game he's playing with me. That's the only reason I'm going.
Del: Lie to yourself, if you need to, but don't lie to me.
Tea: Just because I have feelings for the man doesn't mean that I'll take him back. Besides, knowing Todd, just because he wanted me to come to him doesn't mean that he has feelings for me at all.
Del: No guy would go to this much effort if he didn't feel something.
