Previously: Tea: I'll let him know that you refuse to leave and that he should go ahead and call the police, if he feels he needs to. You're on your own. And, don't worry, my grandmother won't be tracking you down again.

[Tea walks away from Todd, toward the office of the motel.]

ANOTHER JOURNEY
chapter 236:

[Minutes later...

Tea exits the office of the motel, after paying for the damage Todd did to his motel room. She's surprised to find Todd a few feet from her, leaning against the side of the building, a large brown paper bag tucked under his arm.]

Todd: I don't hear any sirens yet.

Tea: I didn't tell the owner that you refused to leave. I was hoping that you would calm down and change your mind.

Todd: I paid for that lousy room. I should be able to redecorate however I wanted to.

Tea: I paid more for it than you did. I paid a thousand bucks for it.

Todd: You could call up R.J. and have him hop on over and hop on top of you in that room so you can get your money's worth.

Tea: Why do you insist on bringing R.J. into this?

Todd: Because he's here. He's probably literally here by now. Even if he isn't, he's been with us the whole trip anyway, because you never stopped thinking about him.

Tea: You're wrong.

Todd: I know what I know, Delgado.

Tea: What do you think you know?

Todd: Where's my car?

Tea: My abuela seems to think you have the erroneous idea that I wanted to be pregnant with R.J.'s baby.

Todd: That's not erroneous. It's probably erogenous for you, though. That's probably the real reason you were acting so turned on the couple of times we did stuff.

Tea: I recall more than a couple of times.

Todd: Whatever! It doesn't count anyway since you were fantasizing about him the whole time.

Tea: I have never fantasized about another man while I've enjoyed your company. I haven't needed to. When I'm with you, my fantasy is right in front of me.

Todd: I didn't drink enough booze to lose my sense of reality.

Tea: Your sense of reality is often inaccurate.

Todd: Where's my car?

Tea: I'll tell you tomorrow, when you're sober.

Todd: We're going back to the honeymoon suite, right?

Tea: We could. I never did get around to packing and checking out of our room.

Todd: Because you were so busy screwing R.J. in our bed?

Tea: R.J. is not here.

Todd: He wouldn't take you back?

Tea: I don't want to be with him.

Todd: Who do you want to be with?

Tea: The Todd I fell in love with.

Todd: Which one is that?

Tea: The man who is funny, and sweet, and charming, and...

Todd: I get it. You want the imaginary one.

Tea: I didn't imagine your tenderness, or your generosity, or your love.

Todd: I'm about to puke on your shoes.

Tea: We'll walk to the hotel. It will help clear your head.

Todd: I don't need my head cleared. I need it examined for being so stupid that I'm not walking away right now, like I should.

Tea: I'm glad. You'll sober up. We'll talk. We'll work this out.

Todd: How do you do that?

Tea: What?

Todd: Make me believe junk that I know isn't true.

[Todd starts to walk away from the motel, toward the hotel they had been staying at before he walked out on her.]

Tea: Todd, wait!

[Todd stops and turns toward her.]

Tea: Give me your car keys.

Todd: Why?

Tea: We can take the car with us, as long as I know you won't be able to drive, no matter how angry you get.

Todd: I thought you were going to let me sober up first before you force that talking junk on me.

Tea: I would feel safer if I had your keys.

[Todd reaches into his pants pocket and pulls out his key chain. He tosses it toward Tea. She leads him around the building, to where she had earlier moved his car.

They are silent as Tea drives the short distance to the hotel. They are silent as they walk together into the lobby. They are silent as they stand close to each other for the short elevator ride to their floor. It isn't until they again enter the honeymoon suite together that the silence becomes unbearable for the former spouses.]

chapter 237:

[Todd and Tea both feel awkward after returning to the honeymoon suite they previously shared before he abandoned her again.

Tea chooses to break the silence that has been between them for the last several minutes.]

Tea: Let's talk.

[Todd wordlessly walks into the bathroom and closes the door. Within seconds, Tea hears the shower running.

She sits down on the bed and calls room service, knowing that they'll both be in better moods, when they finally do talk, if they've eaten something first.

Minutes later...

Todd exits the bathroom, wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist.]

Todd: Stop staring. You've seen me like this before. Hell, you've seen everything I've got.

[Tea clears her throat, trying to compose herself, knowing that now is not the time to allow her lust for Todd to overtake all else.]

Tea: I ordered room service for us.

Todd: I'm not hungry.

Tea: You need to eat.

Todd: You already forced me to come back to this heart-shaped hellhole. Are you forcing me to eat, too?

Tea: I did not force you to do anything.

Todd: You threatened to have me arrested if I didn't do what you wanted.

Tea: That is not true. I paid the owner of that motel so he wouldn't call the police after you tore the place apart.

Todd: I'll pay you back.

Tea: There's no need. I used the money you had given me earlier on this trip, so it was your money anyway.

Todd: That was your money. I was paying you to put up with me. I'll up your fee, as soon as I get some more cash.

Tea: I'd prefer that you give me honesty, instead.

Todd: I'm not in the mood, Delgado.

Tea: We need to talk.

Todd: Talking always messes everything up.

Tea: But, it could straighten out whatever the misunderstanding is that led you to walk out on me.

Todd: You know exactly why I split. You can't go blaming it on me.

Tea: I most certainly can.

[Todd surprises Tea by removing the towel from around his waist. As he drops the wet towel to the floor, he smiles, knowing from the way she's looking at him that his action has replaced Tea's need to talk with a different kind of need. He's been feeling excessively horny during their time apart, especially since his earlier attempt to pleasure himself was interrupted. With her looking at him the way that she is, he knows that she must have gone without release during their days apart, too.]

Todd: I thought you wanted to talk, Delgado?

Tea: Huh?

Todd: I could put some clothes on and we could talk. Is that what you want? Tea?

Tea: Huh?

Todd: Do you want me to get dressed so we can talk?

Tea: Uh...

Todd: Have you been drinking?

Tea: You're the one who's drunk...obviously.

Todd: You think that's the only reason I'd drop my towel for you? Maybe I just want some.

Tea: Some what?

Todd: Don't act dense. You're looking at me like you haven't had any in a long time...at least any that you really got off on.

Tea: You...uh...you gave me pleasure that time in the bathtub, remember?

Todd: Is that what you're looking for this time? Because I had something else in mind.

Tea: What?

Todd: You know what.

Tea: Don't you want to be sober for that?

Todd: I'm better when I'm drunk.

Tea: I doubt that.

Todd: Ask any chick who's ever been unlucky enough to be with me.

[Tea turns away from him, not wanting to give in to his ploy to distract her from their much needed conversation.

Todd makes it more difficult for her by approaching the side of the bed where she's sitting. Tea quickly moves her body to the other side of the bed.

As he joins her on the bed, she knows that she shouldn't allow his seduction attempt to work, but she feels helpless to fight it, since being with him is what she wants, too.

With Tea not rushing with repulsion out the door, Todd takes her continued presence on the bed as an indication that she's okay with going further.

He moves closer to her and places his arm around her body. With his naked body touching hers, Tea's willpower dissolves completely and she initiates their first kiss in days.

Less than a minute later...

They both grunt angrily as they're interrupted by a knock on their door.]

Tea: It must be room service.

[Tea tries to move but Todd holds her in place.]

Tea: I ordered food, remember?

Todd: Do you want food? Or, do you want sex?

Tea: Can't we have both?

Todd: It's your choice, Delgado. You either open that door, or you have sex with me right now. Which is it?

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****

chapter 238:

Tea: Tell whoever it is to go away.

[Todd panics. He wasn't expecting Tea to choose to have sex with him in this moment. He just wanted to shut her up while he also had a little fun making her blush from his actions. He wasn't expecting her to look at him with complete, uncontrolled lust blazing in her eyes.

There is another knock on the door.]

Tea: Send them away. Make the world go away, Querido. It's not allowed to stop us this time.

Todd: You really want to do this, Delgado?

Tea: More than anything.

Todd: You know what will happen, right? This won't be like the fooling around we've been doing. This will be the whole thing...every disgusting part.

Tea: Not disgusting...a fantasy come true...my fantasy.

[More persistent knocking is heard.]

Tea (yelling): Go away! We're not hungry anymore...

[Tea lowers her voice as she looks seductively at Todd, while her hand caresses his bare back.]

Tea: ... at least not for food.

[Todd quickly looks toward the door and bellows.]

Todd: Don't go anywhere with that food!

[Todd climbs over Tea's body and retrieves the towel he had moments earlier dropped on the floor. He wraps the cloth around his waist and surprises Tea by opening the door.

The young room service waiter knowingly smirks at Todd's attire as he looks further into the room at Tea lying on the bed.]

Todd: You just blew a huge tip by looking at my wife like that, kid.

[Todd takes the cart from the young man and wheels it into the room, slamming the door behind him.]

Tea: Come back to bed, Todd.

Todd: You can quit it, Delgado. You got your way...we're not having sex.

Tea: I want to have sex with you. I was willing to give up the food I had ordered. You're the one who's running scared, not me.

Todd: Please! You were never going to go through with it. I only grabbed the food from that horny kid because I wanted to get something out of this.

[Todd pulls a chair away from a nearby table and places it in front of the cart of food. He begins eating.

Tea leaves the bed and approaches him.]

Todd: How come you didn't order enough for you to eat, too, Delgado?

[Tea doesn't speak, but she does stun Todd into silence as she pushes the cart away and kneels down in front of him. He quickly pushes his chair back to retreat from her.]

Todd: What the hell are you doing?

Tea: You said that you wanted to get something out of this. I'll give you something, Todd. I'll give you something you'll never forget. I'll give you a memory to replay in your mind every lonely night after you leave me again. We both know that you will. You don't know how to make a commitment. You don't keep your promises. I, however, don't leave things unfinished.

[Tea moves toward him again. This time he doesn't move as she re-enters his personal space. Her hands lift the lower portion of the towel he's wearing. The feeling of her fingers, and soon her tongue, against his flesh forces him to struggle within himself. He wants to stay and he wants to run. He's not certain, though, which would do more damage to his long-term relationship with Tea.

If he stays and allows her to continue, he knows that she'll give him pleasure, but sex has never done anything but cause destruction for him in the past. He also knows that this isn't the way that Tea had wanted this to happen. This won't be romantic the way he knows she wanted it to be, or the way he wanted it to be for her.

If he pushes her away right now, he might be pushing away his last chance to pleasure himself with her body...the last chance to play out all of his fantasies that have so far gone unacted upon. He does feel certain, though, that stopping her current actions is probably the only chance he has at having a future with her.

His flesh has happily already made it's decision about what to do, as it responds enthusiastically to her oral attention. His mind, though, continues it's struggle between wanting the current pleasure and wanting to sabotage all chance of happiness, and wanting to fight for a chance at the future he desires, with the woman he desires, even if he knows that any chance of happiness is virtually guaranteed to fall apart for him...for them.

After making his decision, he waits several more seconds, allowing himself to continue luxuriating in the physical pleasure a little longer.

Finally, he begrudgingly does what he feels he needs to do.]

Todd: Tea? The food's getting cold.

[Tea quickly stops her actions. As she stands up, Todd notices a definite smirk of satisfaction on her face. It infuriates him. He now knows that she was playing a game with him. She expected all along that he would stop her before things progressed any further.]

Todd: Get your clothes off!

[Tea is stunned by Todd's demand.]

Tea: What?

Todd: You heard me.

Tea: I thought...

Todd: What did you think, Tea? This is what you wanted, isn't it? When you load a guy's hammer like that, you expect to get nailed, right?

Tea: What about the food?

[Todd swipes his hand across the top of the cart, sending their meal flying across the room.]

Todd: Next question.

[When Tea doesn't respond, Todd approaches her.]

Todd: You want me to do it for you, is that it?

[Todd begins slowly removing her clothing. Tea is again uncertain how to respond.]

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****

chapter 239:

[Todd slowly begins removing Tea's clothing. They're both nervous about the situation they find themselves in. They're both desperate for sexual release, after denying themselves the pleasure of fully enjoying each other's bodies for so long...too long. But, they both also know that now is not the right time for them to consummate their relationship. Todd is drunk and angry because he believes that Tea is only playing games with him and really wants to be with R.J. Tea is angry and hurt that Todd abandoned her, yet again.

After Todd has Tea completely topless, his hand rises to one of her breasts. He stares at his hand as it moves against her excited flesh.]

Todd: Thinking about R.J.?

Tea: No.

Todd: Liar!

Tea: We need to talk.

Todd: There's nothing to talk about. I know what this is about, Tea. I'm horny. You're horny. We'll just do this once and we won't be horny for each other anymore.

Tea: It isn't that simple, and you know it.

Todd: It will be a lot more fun than talking. I guarantee you that.

Tea: That may be true, but...

[Tea stops speaking as her thoughts quickly fade from her mind as Todd steps back from her and removes the towel from around his waist, leaving him standing completely naked in front of her.

Tea's mouth opens slightly as a sound emanates from her throat. Todd smirks at her, knowing that she's so desperate for sex that she'll even settle for him in this moment.]

Todd: Tell me that you want this.

Tea: Todd...

Todd: Tell me that I'm not forcing you. Say it.

Tea: You're not forcing me. I want to be with you, but...

Todd: This is a yes, or no, thing.

Tea: Yes.

Todd: Yes?

Tea: Yes. Yes. Yes. I can't be strong this time, even though I know we should wait. I want you. I need you. Make love to me, no matter what the consequences are, no matter what happens next, no matter...

Todd: Shut up! Just, shut up!

[Todd watches the nervous expression on her face as her hands work to remove the clothing from the lower half of her body. When she finishes, his eyes wander appreciatively down her body. His own body is desperately screaming out for now to be the moment that he finally finds release inside Tea's body, after years of wanting, yet depriving, himself of that satisfaction.

Not wanting to risk that the concerns his mind is frantically trying to interject will have any success at ruining this final chance to be with Tea...his Tea, Todd quickly moves toward her and takes her in his arms, pulling her tightly against his body as his mouth devours hers.

Tea's entire body feels weaken by the insensitivity of his kiss, and the way his body feels against hers as she feels him finally fully releasing his sexuality with her. Just the thought that in moments their bodies will be joined, sends tingles throughout Tea's body that cause her to moan in anticipation of the fulfillment of her sexual fantasies about him.

Tea's enthusiastic response to his kiss causes Todd's excitement to increase. If she's faking her response to him, she's the best faker he's ever had.

Soon, they're lying on the bed, side by side, kissing, as they delay their joining, not because of fear this time, but because they both want to drag out this moment...this promise of pleasure...for as long as possible, until neither can wait any longer.

They're both already so close to their individual, yet shared, breaking point, that they avoid touching each other anywhere more pleasurable than their bare backs. But, their kisses alone threaten to send them both over the edge into sexual bliss.

Moments later, when Todd finally brings his body on top of hers, no longer wanting to delay the inevitable, Tea halts their activities with her words.]

Tea: The condoms are on the dresser.

[Todd stares down at her for several seconds, disappointment and anger evident in his facial expression. He quickly removes his body from hers and goes to the dresser. It isn't condoms that he seeks, though, as he opens one of the drawers and pulls out articles of clothing and begins to dress.]

Tea: Todd...

[He doesn't respond.]

Tea: What is it this time? Tell me!

[Tea moves toward him and places her hand on his arm, trying to force him to look at her. He jerks his arm out of her grasp.]

Tea: Fine! Be a coward! I've had enough of this game. This is the last time I will ever allow you to bring me this close, only to leave me unsatisfied. No more!

[Tea also seeks out clothing but doesn't have a chance to put anything on before Todd angrily pulls the clothing from her hands.]

Tea: Now you want sex again? Let me guess... As soon as we're ready to go again, you'll change your mind again, and then you'll change it back when I'm ready to walk out the door again, and then you'll want sex again, and then you'll stop again. We'll spend the entire night dressing and undressing, but never getting where we both want to be.

Todd: You think I want that? With you?

Tea: If you don't, give me back my clothes.

Todd: These are my clothes.

Tea: You didn't mind my wearing them before.

Todd: When R.J. sees you getting off the plane, you should be wearing something that makes him want to rip your clothes off for a good reason, not just because you're wearing my clothes.

Tea: I'm not going back to Llanview. I'm not going back to R.J. I'm not staying here, either.

Todd: You're right about that. I paid for this place. I decide who stays and goes.

Tea: And, you've decided to throw me out...again?

Todd: You don't want to be here. Get the hell out.

Tea: What happened? We were both having the same moment. I know we were.

Todd: I've been drinking. I'd do it with almost anyone right now.

Tea: Then, do it with me.

Todd: I said almost anyone.

Tea: You were enjoying the thought of doing it with me a few minutes ago. I know you were. But then, when I mentioned the condoms...

Todd: Shut up!

Tea: That's it! But, why would mentioning them upset you like this?

Todd: Why do you think?

Tea: You're the one who bought them...remember, before you abandoned me, yet again.

Todd: You split on me first.

Tea: I did not. I was here the whole time. You're the one who left.

Todd: Only because you wanted that loser here, instead of me.

Tea: I wanted you, Todd. Only you.

Todd: Liar!

Tea: I am not lying. How many times do I have to tell you that I want to be with you? I want to be with you, not R.J., not anyone else.

Todd: You only want to shack up with me because you don't have to feel anything when you're with me. Or, because you think you deserve to be in hell. Or, for whatever other twisted reason you're putting yourself through this.

Tea: What are you talking about? Do you really believe that I didn't feel anything when you abandoned me? Do you think that it didn't hurt, that I didn't cry for hours?

Todd: You cried. I know you cried. You cried over R.J. You cried because you weren't knocked up with his kid, like you wanted.

Tea: I see. You were awake that night. You saw me crying. But, instead of being a mature adult and discussing it with me, you jumped to the wrong conclusion, as usual.

Todd: Wrong conclusion? You were bawling. At least you're not denying what I saw. That right there makes you better than most chicks...just barely.

Tea: I was crying, not because of R.J., but because of...

Todd: I don't want to hear your lies.

Tea: I won't lie to you. I'll tell you the truth.

Todd: The truth is that I disgust you. You want to be anywhere else right now but here with me.

Tea: You're wrong.

Todd: You didn't even want my dick touching that part of you, you're so disgusted.

Tea: You bought the condoms, not me.

Todd: I don't want to use them. Now, come up with some pathetic excuse to get out of my dick touching you there.

Tea: I have the best excuse of all.

Todd: This should be good.

Tea: If we don't use a condom, you'll leave me.

Todd: Only after I'm through with you.

Tea: You searched my purse. You know that my birth control pills are back in Llanview.

Todd: I knew it! I knew that bastard kid you want with R.J. was the reason you want my dick covered. I knew it!

Tea: Listen to me.

Todd: I've heard enough of your lies. You don't want my kid, but you were crying over not having R.J.'s kid. This isn't even worth the sex anymore. You can leave now. I'll find someone else to get me off.

Tea: I wasn't crying over R.J.'s child, not exactly.

Todd: Did you hear me? Get out! I don't want you here.

Tea: Yes, you do. As ridiculous as your paranoid delusions are, you wouldn't be this upset if you didn't want me with you...if you didn't love me.

Todd: I don't love you.

Tea: Why are you so upset?

Todd: I always get upset when chicks play games with me.

Tea: No game playing and no walking out. We're staying here, together, and discussing this.

Todd: Fine! You can stay. I'll leave.

Tea: No you won't.

Todd: Try stopping me.

[Todd moves toward the door.]

Tea: I was crying because it hurt knowing that I'll never have children.

[Todd turns toward her.]

Todd: You don't think R.J. will go back to trying to knock you up?

Tea: I was crying because I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Todd: It wasn't that stupid, happy kind of crying. I could tell.

Tea: I know that you don't want to have children with me. If I'm with you, I won't have children. I accept that. That realization did hurt. That's what you witnessed -- my releasing those emotions. I didn't think I could talk to you about how I was feeling. I thought you might jump to irrational conclusions. (sarcastically) I don't know how I ever thought that.

Todd: When did I ever say that I wouldn't knock you up?

Tea: You bought condoms...lots of condoms.

Todd: I was making sure you wouldn't have any excuses to stop what I wanted. That's all.

Tea: You have never once said that you wanted to have children with me.

Todd: You never said that to me, either.

Tea: It was clear to me what you wanted, and what you didn't want, from our relationship.

Todd: Who's making stupid assumptions now?

Tea: Do you want to have children with me?

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****

chapter 240:

[Todd is silent as he moves further into the room and sits on the edge of the bed. Tea grabs one of his shirts and drapes it over her shoulders, somewhat covering her naked body, before sitting next to him.]

Tea: It's okay. We don't have to have kids. I understand.

Todd: I don't. You want kids, right?

Tea: But, you don't, at least not with me.

Todd: It's not about you, Delgado.

Tea: If we did have a child, you would leave me.

Todd: No way!

Tea: You left Starr.

Todd: Shut up about that.

Tea: If we had a child together, whatever has caused you to stay away from Starr would cause you to leave me and our child, too. I'm willing to never have children, if it means that I have a chance to spend the rest of my life with you.

Todd: Are you nuts? You can't give that up for me. Go back to Llanview. Go back to that loser. Have a bunch of kids, like you want.

Tea: I only want children if I have them with you.

Todd: You really are nuts.

Tea: You're the man I want to be with for the rest of my life.

Todd: Like I said...nuts!

Tea: It isn't nuts to love someone with all your heart.

Todd: It is when that someone is me.

Tea: I love you. I want to be with you.

Todd: You want to have a kid.

Tea: I can live without that.

Todd: You don't want to.

Tea: But, I can.

Todd: You shouldn't have to. If I wasn't so screwed up...

Tea: You're obviously scared about something. What is it?

Todd: I can't be around her right now, okay? Just drop it.

Tea: Why can't you be with her?

Todd: I said...

Tea: I heard what you said. I know this hurts, but...

Todd: But, you're going to keep digging anyway, just like you always do.

Tea: You knew that when you came back for me.

Todd: I hoped you had changed.

Tea: No, you didn't. You miss her. She misses you, too. Why are you forcing yourself to stay away from her?

Todd: Because I'm a heartless bastard. I need a drink.

[Todd moves to the telephone and quickly calls room service. He not only orders alcohol for himself, he also orders a replacement for Tea's meal that he ruined earlier.

After finishing the call and hanging up the phone, he turns back toward Tea with dread.]

Tea: That was very thoughtful.

Todd: What was?

Tea: Ordering food for me.

Todd: If you wanted something, you should have told me. I only ordered enough for myself. Tough luck, Delgado.

Tea: You can be a very sweet and thoughtful man, Todd Manning, even if you stubbornly insist on pretending that you're not.

Todd: I'm not. I ditched my kid, remember?

Tea: Now, that you've brought that up again...

Todd: I only brought it up because I knew you would lead back to that eventually. I just wanted to speed things up so, when the booze gets here, you won't try to stop me.

Tea: From getting more drunk?

Todd: This isn't drunk. You should have seen me after I ditched Llanview, after I ditched my kid...and you.

Tea: I wish I had. I wanted to see you.

Todd: Good! Talk about us for a while. Shut up about all that other stuff.

Tea: You need to talk about your daughter, I can tell.

Todd: You're wrong.

Tea: I'm right. Save us both some time and stop waiting for me to drag it out of you.

Todd: There were times, after I left, when I would try not to think about her. It felt so lousy, I didn't want to think about ditching her like that. But, trying not to think about it made me feel even lousier. I would try to do more and more booze, wanting to get so smashed I wouldn't be able to think about anything anymore.

Tea: You'd drink until you passed out?

Todd: When I got lucky. Sometimes, it seemed like it didn't matter how much booze I did, the thoughts wouldn't stop, the voices wouldn't stop.

Tea: Who's voices?

Todd: Starr's. Yours. I don't know, maybe...

Tea: Your mother's?

Todd: How do you do that? How do you know everything?

Tea: I know you. I know what comforts you. And, I know what torments you.

Todd: It never goes away. It feels like there's always something inside me trying to eat its way out.

Tea: Love?

Todd: What the hell is that?

Tea: You know, and I know that you know.

Todd: I'm new to this feeling junk. At least it still feels that way. It really hurts when I think about Starr. It feels like someone's slowly ripping my insides out. If love feels that lousy why does everyone want it so much?

Tea: You're hurting because you're not with her. Go to her. Your relationship with your daughter is more important that whatever is keeping you from her.

Todd: I can't.

Tea: You can. I could help.

Todd: This isn't like some stupid nightmare. This isn't something you can make go away. This is real. This is hell.

Tea: Maybe I could help, if you let me know what it is.

Todd: It doesn't matter. I'm never going back again.

Tea: I don't believe that.

Todd: I only went back there, this last time, for you.

Tea: Did you plan to see her when you came for me?

Todd: No.

Tea: Were you glad that you did?

Todd: She didn't spit in my face. I'm always glad about that.

Tea: Why would she spit in your face? She loves you. She adores you. Nothing will ever change that.

Todd: You're wrong about that.

Tea: Why are you so certain?

Todd: She'll find out what I did. You know she will. She'll look at me like I disgust her. I can't go back there...ever. I can't see that look in her eyes. I can take it from everyone else, but not her.

Tea: Maybe...

Todd: Maybe she won't find out? Do you really think she can live in that town and never find out?

Tea: No one has told her so far. Maybe no one ever will.

Todd: Even if those gossips finally kept there mouths shut about something, there are still computers everywhere. At her school, the library, a friend's house. Hell, she's living at Asa's. He's probably got one in every room, including the john. All she has to do is type in my name and she'll be reading all the disgusting details about my past. I made sure that my newspaper was safe but if she searches The Banner...

Tea: Talk to Viki, she'll...

Todd: She won't do a damn thing. If she hid stuff for me, she'd have to hide stuff for all the other creeps in that stupid town. She'd never do it.

Tea: Did you ask her?

Todd: I didn't have to. I know her. She'd give me a lecture about how I can't hide from the past, or whatever. I don't need lectures. I need my kid to never find out what a creep I am.

Tea: You're not a creep.

Todd: I'm worse than a creep. What I did... She'll find out. She'll hate my guts, just like everyone else. She'll look at me like I'm worthless scum.

Tea: I know what you did. Do you think I look at you that way?

Todd: That's different.

Tea: How?

Todd: You're a lawyer. You're trained to look at criminals and creeps like they're not total scum.

Tea: I don't look at you like you're scum because I don't believe you are.

Todd: I'm just misunderstood?

Tea: Actually, you are by many people, including yourself, but not me.

Todd: You don't even know everything. You'd be grossed out if you did.

Tea: Nothing about your past will ever keep me from wanting to be with you.

Todd: Why? What the hell's wrong with you?

Tea: My mother left when I was a little girl, leaving me feeling a void that I thought would never fill.

Todd: Pop out a kid with your boyfriend and you'll be over it.

Tea: Is it really that easy?

Todd: It worked for me.

Tea: I don't believe that. I don't believe that the pain you felt from your mother's abandonment evaporated that easily.

Todd: It did. I'm over it. Now, I get to wait around for my kid to figure out I'm worthless and ditch me, too.

Tea: You expect abandonment because of your mother.

Todd: Don't get all shrink-like on me. If I wanted this kind of supposed insight into my inner workings, I would have stuck it out with my shrink.

Tea: Did you leave therapy before your therapist felt you were ready?

Todd: I get to decide when I'm ready...no one else.

Tea: Did you get too close to truths you wanted to remain hidden?

Todd: Either get on your back and let me do whatever I want with you, or no more talking until the booze gets here and I can finally pass out and put an end to this miserable day.

Tea: You think every day is a miserable day. It doesn't have to be.

Todd: It's your call, Delgado.

Tea: You would make love to me right now, if I make that choice?

Todd: I'll fuck you.

Tea: Make love.

Todd: Fuck.

Tea: Make love.

Todd: Fuck.

Tea: We could go on like this all night.

Todd: Is that a promise?

Tea: When we make love for the first time it will be all night. That I promise you.

Todd: You're bailing?

Tea: You're drunk, you're hurting, and we're not ready.

Todd: I'm ready. Trust me.

Tea: So am I...physically. I'm so ready, I feel like I'll burst if I don't find relief soon. But, we should wait until the right time.

Todd: Never?

Tea: There will be a right time. We'll both know when that is.

Todd: Probably when we're both too old to actually do anything. Now it all makes sense.

Tea: You think I'm putting it off forever?

Todd: Aren't you? Isn't that what this has been about all this time? You pretend that you want it, but as soon as we get close, you find excuses...you start fights.

Tea: Me? What about you?

Todd: What about me? I'll do you right now. You're the one who's too scared of the Todd monster to spread your legs for him.

Tea: Okay, fine! Let's do it!

[Tea removes his shirt from around her shoulders and moves her naked body further onto the bed.

Before Todd has time to react, there's a knock on the door...]
