| Welcome to my Personal Page! I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Florida at the age of three. I had a great childhood, and I wouldn't change a bit of it. We had bad times and good times, but it only made me a stronger person. Even though my parents divorced and my mother remarried, my parents still got along, and that really helped my sister, Kelley, and I as we were growing up. I went to a great private school in Florida and played volleyball, softball and basketball there. I graduated from high school in 1998 and went on to the University of Florida. That's when Playboy came into my life. My first experience with Playboy was posing for their "Girls of the SEC" pictorial in the October 2001 issue. I only posed topless because I was nervous to go totally nude, but things have certainly changed since then! That February I was asked to be one of the 10 contestants on the Fox TV special Girl Next Door: The Search for a Playboy Centerfold. The competition was tough, so I was surprised and thrilled when Hef named me Miss July 2002. My Playmate pictorial was so much fun to shoot. Playboy photographer Arny Freytag did a great job of making me feel comfortable and beautiful, which makes for great pictures. My set had a schoolgirl theme to it, which definitely fits my personality. I thought the set was very sexy, and I loved playing the naughty schoolgirl. I have to say, though, that modeling is actually very difficult. I almost fainted during a shoot, which they caught on camera for Girl Next Door. It's really hard to hold a position for hours with lights beating down on you and tons of makeup and hairspray on. The best part of my Playmate shoot was the day I finished! My life has changed so much since I've become a Playmate, and my family's been really supportive through it all. When they found out I was going to be Miss July, they were ecstatic! It's been a changing experience for them, too. They had to get used to people recognizing me on the street and wanting autographs, among other things. It's been a real adventure for all of us. One of the best parts about appearing on Girl Next Door was spending time at the Playboy Mansion. The grounds are like a dream; it's sort of like paradise on earth. And the food there rocks! You can have anything you want at any time of the day. It gets a little dangerous if you're watching your figure -- I guess that's why there's a gym close by. I've also been to a few parties at the Mansion, and they're a blast. One of my favorite things about Hef is that he always dances. Besides being the ultimate party host, he is a very good dancer! I've met some extraordinary women while working for Playboy, and I consider Tina Jordan, Vanessa Gleason, Ava Fabian and Julie McCullough all good friends. I've also gotten close to Christina Santiago and Shallan Meiers, who appeared on Girl Next Door with me. I've even met a few celebrities along the way, like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matthew Perry and Pam Anderson, who is just as beautiful in person. When I'm not in school or modeling for Playboy I like to spend my free time on the water -- boating and water sports are two of my favorite pastimes. After I finish college I'd love to keep modeling and even try my hand at acting, but my real dream is to open an animal rescue ranch. I have my own pets (four cats, to be exact) but I want to help many more. My ranch would take in strays, abused or abandoned animals, and either adopt them or give them a good home to live in. Being Miss July 2002 has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. For every woman out there who's ever dreamed of becoming a Playmate, my advice is to go for it. Playboy is all about embracing your sexuality and being proud of your body, and becoming a Centerfold is quite an honor. Playboy is an incredible magazine, and Hef is an incredible visionary. | Playboy.com: What's the craziest thing you did at the mini-mansion? Lauren Anderson: I went to bed early every single night, but I heard plenty of stories about Jill. She was...quite a character. She got pretty wild with other girls in the house a few nights, or so I've heard. PB: Did the other girls ever try to suck you into their circle of hedonism? LA: Somehow I managed to escape it. I think after the first couple of days everybody knew who was into what, and how far people would go. There wasn't a lot of pressure -- people just did what they wanted to do. Some girls were really wild, some were conservative, but nobody tried to make you do anything you didn't want to do. PB: What's life at the Mansion like? LA: I love it. You get waited on hand and foot. And Hef is just incredible. He just sent me a note in the mail to make sure that everything's going well here at home, and I really like him a lot. PB: How did you feel when you found out you were one of the finalists? LA: I stopped breathing for about five minutes! But I felt totally relieved. I said to myself at the beginning of the show that I just wanted to be one of the three finalists, so once I made it there, most of my anxiety went away. PB: How did the other girls react when you won? LA: Christina was mad. She thought she was going to win, end of story, and she said some pretty unkind things about me in her final interview. But I understand that when you want something so bad and you don't win, feelings come out. Shallan just kind of rolled with it. I think she's really cool. PB: What did Hef say to you when you won? LA: When he was giving me the special necklace that I got for winning the show, he said to me that he's seen thousands of pictures, but that my Centerfold was one of the most perfect and beautiful Centerfolds he'd ever seen. Coming from him, that means a lot. |
