Special Concert Edition

March 6: Wow…today was interesting…very interesting. I got to the Oakland Arena parking lot around 5pm. It was freezing cold! As soon as I got out of the car, this huge gust of wind came and knocked over one of those heavy metal barriers and scared the living heck out of me. I went over to the Radio Disney booth where some of the fans were already waiting. And we all basically huddled together underneath umbrellas and prayed that the guys were gonna get there soon. 6 o’clock, where are the guys? A little after that, I was just ready to go inside. We started making our way up to the entrance and it just started pouring cats and dogs all of a sudden. I was not about to stay outside because last year, I was stuck outside in the parking lot, in the cold and rain without an umbrella, and ended up really sick for over a week. Unfortunately I still got soaking wet; my pants were just drenched and let’s not talk about my hair. There was lightning and thunder, so that completed the whole miserable storm effect.

I think the guys finally arrived at the Radio Disney booth right about when my friends and I were waiting in line to get inside the arena. I heard Matt and Todd were creating waterfalls around the tent by hitting the middle of it. We later found our seats and ventured around to find the guys. It didn’t take that long to find them. Believe me, even though the place is big, just look for a huge crowd of girls. All we did was walk out the door to the main concourse, and there they were. The guys were scattered in this one area, signing autographs and taking pictures. Did you see the flyers w/the new group shot on them? Pretty cool!

Oh and don’t ever throw away a perfectly good water bottle! I could not believe they wouldn’t let you bring in unopened water bottles. That’s their way of making you have to pay for one of their drinks that cost an arm and a leg. I’m ashamed to say I gave in and bought a soda…and nachos, expensive multicolored nachos. You’re welcome Todd! Haha I really only saw the guys about twice that night; once before the concert, and while Not So Boyband was on stage in the food area. Oh wait, make that 4 times, the guys were sitting up in the second balcony at first. But then they moved to a section down below me. That night was just crazy, but funny. The only thing that made my night not so great was the awful weather. The concert was great and I still had a lot of fun despite the weather

Continued March 9, 2002…

Oh my god…last night was one of the best days of my entire life. I pretty much on a whim decided to head on over to the *NSYNC show in San Jose. *NSYNC and Townsend on the same day again, nothing wrong with that. Let me start from the beginning though. My memory has been shot these last few days so I have no idea what time I was doing stuff. I’ll just guess and say I got to the Arena at about 5pm. They weren’t letting people in yet, so I had to make a mad dash for the train station across the street to use the bathroom. As my dad and I are walking out of the train station parking lot, there go all of the guys walking towards the Arena, and my dad precedes to yell "Hey guys!!" while on the phone with my mother. Daaaaddd!! Geez…parents these days. So we’re walking together and two girls pass by. The guys didn’t hear this, but I did. They both look back super quick and one girl is all "Oh my god, they were cute!" And she didn’t just say cute, she said "Cute" with major emphasis on the "c". I get a kick out of hearing people talk about the guys, especially when they don’t know I’m listening.

On the day the weather is good and my hair is maintaining it’s normalness (new word), Matt decides to muss it up. I can always count on him to make hair look special. Boys have it too easy with hair. It’s just wash, gel, spike, and out the door. With girls it’s shampoo, condition, blow dry, curl, crimp, braid, shine spray, gel, mousse, hair spray, out the door, back in the door to check the mirror again, etc. Hahaha I love being a girl. But yea, we were waiting for this extremely long light to turn green so we could cross the street. Then I hear all this screaming coming from the girls in line at the Radio Disney booth and they’re already playing "Pour Some Sugar On Me". And Steve is in the middle of the street, motioning for the guys to come over. A lot of promoting was accomplished and we passed out a ton of CD order forms and flyers advertising for Townsend’s Tracy show on March 30th. Buy your tickets at www.townsendstreetteam.com if you haven’t already. Next time I’m bringing a recorder so I don’t have to say the same thing over and over again. "Hi, would you like a flyer? Hi, would you like a flyer?"

Oh oh, and here’s the best part. I came without a ticket. I was advised to go get my ticket as soon as I got there because they had something like Section 3, Row 12, but I decided to wait. Thank god I waited. I ended up getting 3rd row in the pitt! Talk about jaw dropping moment. No offense to the guys, but I was ready to just drop everything and go inside to look at my seat. I knew they were gonna be sitting somewhere by me anyway. They were in good hands, so I went inside just as Not So Boyband was finishing up. As much as I always say I would never cry over *NSYNC, I started getting all teary eyed when the smoke started to rise during "Do Your Thing". It’s really sad, but I had a teeny moment there. Can you imagine if I cried over Townsend? LoL All I ever do is laugh, with them, with them, not at them. *evil grin* Wow was I glad I was by myself because I went absolutely insane. I’ve had some close seats, but nothing like that. I’m sure I screamed up a storm and Stella said I was on the huge jumbotron screen! Cool! I don’t want to give you a novel on my concert experience, but to sum it up, I touched Ginuwine…and and…Justin! Woooooohoooooooooo!! And during the intermission before Ginuwine, I spotted the guys about six rows back from the second part of the extending stage. So I went to the back of the pitt and said hi to Rye.

Todd thinks the first leg of the tour was better; he likes when *NSYNC goes all out with the costumes, set and pyro. I personally thought that this second leg was better. Can’t say much for the pyro this time. At the end, a spark somehow got into my left eye and that wasn’t a pleasant experience. And whew, when the smoke passed over the pitt, it smelled really bad. And I got ashes all over me from the explosions. The concert was a lot more intimate though. *NSYNC reached out to the entire venue, from the front to the sides, the middle, and back. They had the place covered. Being that close to everything just made me think about how great it would be for Townsend to get that big and just blow up the house. There is so much time, patience, and effort being put into their career by their family, friends, management, and fans. I am seriously thankful the guys were there, otherwise I might not have gone, and the pitt ticket would have gone to someone else. Going to all these events really takes a toll on you. I got home around midnight and didn’t end up going to bed until 2am. Then I had to wake up early this morning to go to an SAT Academy class. Hey, how would you like to see Townsend spelled out in cheese and salami? See Sheerin for further information.
