Column 5
December 7, 2001

Let’s kick off today by welcoming all those new Townsend fans from Springview, Dywer, Fulton, Sowers, Tewinkle, Hughes, Col. Tustin, and Marine View middle schools. I’m glad to see that the guys are picking up a lot of fans during the course of their tour. So welcome to the family, be sure to join all of those wonderful Townsend clubs and visit the websites in the "Links" section.

Things have been a little slow lately, so this column is a bit scattered and my thoughts are all over the place, so if you get lost, let me know and I’ll do my best to be more clear.

As I’m sitting here tonight, I’m wondering what the guys are up to. I’m going through that dreaded Townsenditis. The next time I’ll be seeing them is New Year’s Eve for their two performances. Well 24 days encounting. Who’s pumped for the football game? Are you ready for some football? Oh what am I kidding, as much as I love sports, the last thing I will be doing is paying attention to the game. Lately I’ve noticed it’s very easy for me to lose my concentration. I remember a long time ago Dom mentioned that he’d like to do sort of a celeb sports event with competitions and everything. Well with Dom & Nick’s wrestling experience, Todd’s baseball & soccer skills, Matt’s track expertise, Rye’s track and skiing ability, I’m willing to bet they’d win.

Oh yea! Townsend was in the Timeout Magazine in the Contra Costa Times today. My mom spotted an advertisement for the Tony La Russa’s benefit for AARF. Meredith Edwards and J.T. Taylor from Kool & the Gang will also be there. I know some people were a bit intimidated by the ticket price posted and no the decimal point is right where it’s supposed to be. Hehe But tickets are $300, $100, $75, and $50 according to the newspaper. You can call 943-SHOW for tickets.

After arriving home last month, I had to ask myself this question and I’ve asked myself it many times before. Now just pretend that I’m Joan Rivers meets one of those ladies at the perfume counters at Macy’s. What cologne do the guys wear? This is kind of an embarrassing topic for me to bring about and I’m sure it’s no less for the guys themselves, but hey, it’s bound to get asked sooner or later. Inquiring minds want to know what keeps the guys smelling good 24/7. It’s more than just a shower, that’s for sure. One thing I hate about walking through the hallways of my high school is the smell (usually from the guys). The typical fragrance of a school hallway consists of assorted Bath & Body lotions or sprays, cologne (way too much), or other various things that I don’t care to get into. But really, most guys do not know when to stop spraying on the cologne. You walk by and "Whew!" *major cringe*. This reaction is usually followed by one or more girls scrunching up their face in sheer dismay. My best piece of advice, take a shower dude! It’ll save you a lot of trouble. Originally, I thought this question should be followed by an answer, but after some careful consideration, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s better to leave it a mystery. After all, it’ll keep everyone guessing and the appeal factor just goes way up. Interestingly enough, the stuff the guys wear are the top favorites of both men and women, so there ya go boys. Stick with them!

By the way, how many of you remember former member Chris Gonzales (or Jayden Christofer as he’s known now)? If not, you really should check out his recent work. Matt co-wrote a song with Jayden and did background vocals for a couple of songs. And they’re really good. So *plug*plug*, go take a listen. http://www.jaydenchristofer.cjb.net/

I can’t believe it, but it looks like this is going to be the shortest column I’ve had so far. *gasp* Is that possible? :P Well enjoy the holidays everyone. Next time, I’ll be writing about those exciting New Year’s Eve events. There will also be something cool happening in the Official Club before then, so stay tuned!
