Q: How did you feel when you were chosen to play the part in 10 things...?
A: Good...I felt great. I was excited. It worked out well because Petrucchio is one of my favorite Shakespearean characters.
Q: Seeing as how "10 Things..." is based on "The Taming of the Shrew", have you done any other Shakespeare?
A: Yes, I've done a few plays, I played in Hamlet. I learned how to speak and articulate Shakespeare.
Q: I wanted to know if you're anything like your character?
A:Yeah, of course I am. I think it's hard, every role you play there is a certain degree of yourself. On the outside you see a character, but behind that, where it's coming from, is me.
Q: How did you handle the stress of filming (especially while being in an unfamiliar city)?
A: I just don't think about the stress, I try and find escape routes. Like I go to Joshua Tree, or some other place with great expanse. It doesn't bother me that much!
Q: how did you first get into acting?
A: I did theater. I did school plays, theater groups and companies. I did workshops, dancing... There never was a time when I said this is what I would do for the rest of my life... It just kind of happened, but I love it. I wouldn't do anything else!
Q:What was your first role?
A: My first role was actually, I suppose, the donkey in the Jesus story...I played the donkey! The year before that, I played the sheep, in kindergarten
Q: Which character would you rather date in real life Larissa or Julia?
A: Julia. No.
Q:What do you do in your spare time?
A: Heath likes to get outside as much as possible. Go for long drives with good friends. And I like to drive towards nothing. I like to play tennis. I like snowboarding.
Q: was it hard to keep a straight face in all those funny scenes?
A: No, I haven't really had that problem. It's always OK till we hear action, then we crack up.
Q: How was it doing the paint ball seen?
A: It was fun! We got paid to play basically. Julia's a bad shot.
Q: I loved the singing scene. Was that really you? If it was, it sounds like you've had experience in singing, have you?
A: Yes it really was me singing. But that was a stunt guy dancing with my wig. Just joking!!! Yes, I did some musical theater, but that's been the first time I recorded in a studio. So I felt like a rock star for a bit! Even though I was singing "I can't take my eyes off of you"
Q: what was your take on the characters in the movie...were they like the kids back when you were in high school?
A: No. My generation of youth in Australia is like the other side of the coin from over here. But we still had clowns, and hassles and all those things!
Q: Do you know any other actors from Australia, like Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, or Geoffrey Rush?
A: Yeah, I actually know all of them.
Q: Out of any star who would you want to work with the most?
A: Jack Nicholson. And out of the dead actors, Gene Kelly. And of dead actresses, Judy Garland, tied with Katherine Hepburn. Live actresses... Meryl Streep.
Q: How has acting help you understand yourself?
A: It didn't! I'm still trying to work it out.
Q: Did filming bring back your memories of high school?
A: Yes. It did...it made me think a lot about my mates. And how much I miss it. And how much I took it for granted.
Q: What projects do you have coming up? Are you working on something now?
A: Yes, but I can't talk about it, or they'll shoot me!
Q: Were there any fights off camera?
A: I beat up Joseph, who was picking on Larissa, who was picking on David...
Q: What was your favorate part to act out?
A: The big toe!
Q: Do you speak any languages other than English?
A: The universal language...
What makes you happy?
A:Rainy days and black and white movie.
Q: what is the most important piece of advice would you give teens of today?
A: Don't grow up and drop bombs on foreign countries.
Q: What was the worst thing you did as a kid?
A: Drop bombs on foreign countries.
Q: Did you always want to be an actor? If not, when you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
A:A nuclear physicist! No, I never stopped to think about it as a kid. I was too busy playing.
Q: what's the most interesting place you've been to?
A: I think Brunei.
Q: If there were anything you could change in your life, back in time, what would you change?
A: Nothing.
Q: Are you concerned about your heartthrob status overshadowing your ability as an actor?
A: Yeah, I think about it quite a bit. I don't get worried... but I'd hate to think it would come to that. So that's why I will keep doing independent films.
Q: Have you studied dance and/or voice?
A: Both actually! I studied contemporary dancing, to become more attached to my body and movements. Voice training, just little bits here and there, for different accents.
Q: How does it feel to star in a movie?
A: It's the same as a supporting role, it feels like it's more of an ensemble cast. I never really feel like the star of the movie, unless the rest of the cast is with me.
Q:You have a great sense of humor. Is comedy a great love of yours?
A:Yes, I love comedy, I love to laugh. It’s a great release. I like to not take life to seriously.
Q:Your movie just opened today are you psyched?
A:Nervous!
Q: What is your biggest challenge as an actor?
A: I'd have to write an essay to explain it. It's a hard question to answer, and I don't know if we have time here...But there are many things that are hard about acting.
Q: How would you describe yourself to someone who's never met you?
A: Accepting... Happy... Dreamy... and Nervous! [laughs] I don't know how else to describe myself.
Q: What are your three most favorite movies and why?
A: 2001 Children of Paradise ponette The Pirate, with Gene Kelly I have so many favorite movies... Deer hunter also. And many more!!
Q:Do you play the guitar by chance?
A: I used to. But I don't anymore. Now I play the bongos, tambourine.. I majored in the triangle.
Q: Do you have any bad habits?
A: No. I quit smoking. Thank you very much! I send out all my love. Peace! (end of the interview)
