He opened the door to the penthouse peeking his head through the partially open door. No flying objects, good start he thought as he entered. Tea was sitting on the sofa; Michael curled up next to her as she read him his nightly bedtime story in Spanish. Michael looked up at him and smiled then frowned as he looked over at his mother who continued reading, never missing a beat. If she noticed his entrance, she didn't acknowledge it. He remained silent, listening as she read the story in a soft gentle voice as he sat in the chair across from the sofa next to the fireplace. Michael was watching him now, the story long forgotten. Climbing down from the sofa, Tea stopped as she watched him make his way to his father, climbing upon his lap, straddling his legs, his tiny hands finding his fathers long hair. He stroked it once before leaning over, whispering into his father's ear. Of course a child's whisper isn't much of a whisper because Tea could hear every word.
"Mami is mad at you." He told his father, peeking back over his shoulder at his mother as she watched the two. "I noticed," Todd whispered back in the same non-whisper. He watched as Tea folded her arms, looking out the picture window at the dark, night sky. "If you draw her a picture she won't be mad anymore. She smiles when I draw her a picture." Todd looked at his son, his hand finding his small face, caressing it. "Thanks Squirt, I'll keep that in mind."
"Is she gonna 'vorce you?" "What?" "Alex told Starr that his Mami and Papi are mad at each other and they are 'vorcing each other and Starr said that happens when grown ups get mad. They 'vorce each other and don't live together anymore. I don't want to get 'vorced, Papi. I wanna stay with you."
Michael wrapped his arms around his neck tightly, burying his face in his neck. Looking over at Tea, he saw tears in her eyes as she watched Michael then him. She unfolded her arms; her beautiful eyes still fixed with his. "Listen, squirt" Todd whispered, his eyes still on mine. "Mami and I aren't getting 'vorced. The preacher man said till death do you part and you know what that means?" Michael shook his head against his neck, the top of his head bumping Todd's chin. "That means that we are together, forever, till death. And even then that can't keep us apart, you got it?"
Leaning back to look into his father's eyes, Michael wiped away the tears that soaked his cheeks.
"Mijito, come here." Michael climbed from his father's lap into the waiting arms of his mothers and she hugged him tightly, pulling him onto her lap. Todd watched as she rocked him gently, caressing his arm, kissing his forehead. She whispered words of love in Spanish some Todd recognized some he didn't. She then whispered something in his ear and he giggled, smiling up at her. Kissing his forehead again, she watched as he climbed down making his way back onto his lap.
"Mami said you're a poopy head sometimes but she loves you anyway."
Todd smirked, looking over at his wife as she tried not to smile as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "A poopy head, huh? Well, I guess that's better than what I'm sure she wanted to say. Look, dude, I'll make a deal with you. Let me and your Mami talk and we'll be up in a little while to tuck you in, OK? I'll bring ice cream when I come up."
Michael smiled, kissing his father's cheek before scrambling down to run to his mother. Kissing her he made his way to the stairs, climbing them as fast as his little legs could carry him.
"Poopy head?"
"It's the cleanest thing I could think of. I called you much worse in my head."
He nodded as he stood walking over to the couch to sit next to her. "I'm so angry with you right now, Todd."
"I know."
She sighed in frustration, leaving the couch to stand in front of the window. "I can't believe you would think I would cheat on you. I mean, after all this time after everything we've been through, how could you think for one minute that I would cheat on you."
"I didn't think for a minute. It was 3 seconds."
"Well that's 3 seconds too long. Damn it Todd."
He wanted to go to her, turn her to him and hold her but he wanted to give her space. She was angry and he had it coming. He was going to sit there and take his punishment like a man.
"Look, I'm sorry, Tea," he told her, his voice soft. "I don't know why I thought that. Yeah I do, I guess I'm just still waiting for the day that you leave me." She turned to him, her arms folded across her chest.
"Todd, how many times do I have to tell you that I won't leave you? I'm happy with you why can't you understand that?" He shrugged and she sighed.
Walking over to him, Tea knelt in front of him, her hand on his thighs. Her eyes weren't angry anymore, no more tears. Determination was in them. She had thought they were past all this defeatist crap. She had thought that after all this time that he had finally understood her love for him and that she would never leave him, willingly. "Look at me Manning."
When he complied, she cupped his face with her hands, pulling him closer to her so that their faces where only inches apart. He could smell her perfume, her sweet breath on his face. "I will say this only once. Hear it and learn it. I love you. You and only you, I don't want another man, I'll never want another man."
"Why?" he whispered the same old question he had asked her and himself before. He would never understand, not as much as he tried to why she loved him so much. He was surly, mean-spirited and not overly handsome. That scar on his cheek was testimony to that. She could have any man on earth, including boring ass Sykes yet she wanted him. Why, that was the question of the ages for him. Not the same old "Why am I here on Earth" question but "Why does Tea Delgado Manning love me?"
"I love you because your good to me and when I first came here you gave me a home and a family when I needed it so desperately. I love you because you kept coming back for me, because you needed me. I love you because you're the father of my child and future children. And when you touch me…" She smiled at him, leaning forward to brush his lips against hers. She smiled again when his breath quickened. "I cum so hard the earth shatters for me."
His body shuttered as she bit gently on his lower lip, her eyes never leaving his. She continued to smile as she pulled slightly away from him, her thumb caressing his cheek.
"Oh."
Her smile grew. "Does that explain it clear enough?" He nodded meekly unable to do much else as he stared into her hypnotic brown eyes. He was positively speechless and suddenly horny as hell. God this woman could do things to him with the slightest effort.
"Good. Now, we will forget this night, right? Never happened?" He nodded again, this time stronger. "Great!" Kissing his lips quickly, Tea stood watching as he watched her, slack jawed. "Now, I think you promised our son ice cream. You do that, I'll be back in a minute."
Shaking the erotic fog from his brain, Todd stood quickly, walking behind her as she moved into the foyer to get her coat and purse. She says things like that and then wants to leave? Shit, his body was throbbing from head to toe for her and the only thing he could think of was taking her to the bedroom and making the earth shatter, several times. "Hey, wait a minute, where are you going this time of night?"
"I'm going to talk to Dorian."
"What the hell for? I thought we weren't going to mention this again?"
"We aren't," she told him as she donned her jacket, flipping her hair over the collar. "I want to settle some things with her tonight and then its finished. You go give Michael his Ice Cream and I'll be back."
"You promise?"
She smiled at him, moving closer to kiss his lips. "I promise. Besides, I'm still angry with you Todd Manning. You have a lot of making up to do. Could take all night."
He smiled at me, taking my by the waist pulling me into his body. I could feel his excitement against me as he leaned down to kiss me, deeply, his tongue playing with the tip of mine. "I love you Tea." He whispered as he pulled away, his forehead touching mine as he caressed my cheek. I felt my stomach flutter like it always did whenever he whispered those sweet three little words to me. "And I love you. I'll be home soon."
