CHAPTERS 14 - 16 |
[Tea stares at his luscious lips as they say her name, wanting desperately to feel his lips again...on her lips...on her neck...on her breasts...on her stomach...on her... Tea gets lightheaded and feels like she's about to swoon. She closes her eyes and moves her lips toward his.]
Tea: Maybe we should forget breakfast.
Todd (pulling away from her): Nope. Can't do that. Now you've got me thinking about food. We'll eat and then we'll do...whatever.
Tea (with a grin on her face): Whatever.
Chapter Fourteen:
[Tea sits on the bed as Todd had suggested. She's no longer even aware that she's only partially dressed. She's distracted by the sight of Todd without his shirt on. She watches the muscles in his back as he moves about the kitchen. Tea loses herself in thinking about some of the previously unfulfilled fantasies she had involving Todd that she now hopes she will be able to live out.
Todd approaches the bed and stares at Tea who has a far away look and an odd smile on her face.]
Todd: Tea, you're not sick are you? Tea?
Tea (coming back to reality): Huh?
Todd: You've got a weird look on your face. Are you sick?
Tea (blushing slightly): No. I was just thinking.
Todd (sitting down next to her): About what?
Tea (smiling uncontrollably): Nothing.
Todd: Well, stop smiling and start eating.
[Tea looks down at the plate that Todd has placed between them on the bed. She laughs slightly at the contents of the plate.]
Tea: This is your idea of breakfast?
Todd: What's wrong with this?
Tea (picking up and waving her breakfast in front of him): Pop Tarts?
Todd (proudly): Not just Pop Tarts...chocolate Pop Tarts.
Tea: And that makes it better?
Todd (talking with his mouth full): Hey, lots of people eat these for breakfast.
Tea: Yeah and most of them are seven. We're not. We're adults. Adults eat real food for breakfast.
Todd (taking a drink of his beverage): Pop Tarts are real food. (Tea gives him a look) What? You don't want me to make breakfast anymore?
Tea (looking around): Um, where's my drink?
Todd: I only have one glass. We can share. Unless adults don't do that.
Tea (taking the glass away from him): Fine. (shocked after drinking from the glass) Orange soda?
Todd: What? Now you're gonna have a problem with that too? Maybe we should reconsider this relationship, or whatever it is we have, because you have absolutely no appreciation for the finer things in life.
Tea: Pop Tarts and orange soda? And this relationship we have, by the way, is a marriage.
Todd: But it's a mixed marriage - I'm normal and you're...well...you.
[Tea puts the plate and the glass on the floor and moves closer to Todd.]
Tea (running her hand down his chest): And what am I, Todd?
Todd (trying not to choke on the piece of Pop Tart he's chewing as Tea's hand reaches the top of his pants): Um...
Tea (pulling the remainder of his Pop Tart out of his hand): Are you through with breakfast?
Todd: Uh...yeah...I guess so.
[Tea throws his Pop Tart across the room.]
Todd: You're a slob that's what you are.
[Tea kisses Todd lightly on his lips as she begins undoing his pants.]
Tea: Is this okay?
Todd: Uh...uh...it's...
[Todd grabs the back of Tea's head with one hand, pulling her face hard against his, while he pushes her body down onto the bed and straddles her.
As they kiss, Tea puts her arms around Todd and slowly moves them down his back. She reaches her hands underneath his pants and tries to slide them down. As she does one of her hands enters his boxer shorts. Tea tries hard to control herself but the more she tries to stop it the more uncontrollable it becomes until she loses all control.]
Todd (as Tea begins laughing): What's so funny?
Tea (unsuccessfully trying to stop laughing): Nothing.
Todd (getting angry): Tell me what you're laughing at.
Tea: Really, Todd, it's nothing. (smiling uncontrollably) I'm sorry.
[Todd gets off of Tea and starts to walk away from the bed, refastening his pants so they don't fall down.]
Chapter Fifteen:
Todd: He told me you'd laugh at me.
Tea (suddenly serious): Who did?
[Todd looks away from her and doesn't speak. Tea feels horrible knowing how difficult it is for Todd and knowing that she just made it worse. Tea gets off the bed and approaches him.]
Tea: Who?
Todd: Who do you think?
Tea: Your father?
Todd: He said that you would. He was right.
[Tea tries to gently stroke his face but he pulls away.]
Tea: He wasn't right.
Todd: You were laughing.
Tea: But not at you.
Todd: Then at who? No one else was in the room. Put your clothes on and get out.
Tea: I don't want to go.
Todd: You want to laugh at me some more?
Tea: No. I do, however, want to spend a lifetime laughing with you, Todd.
Todd (as Tea gently strokes his face): Well, wouldn't that require me to be in on the joke?
[Tea starts unfastening his pants.]
Todd (trying to move her hands away): Don't.
Tea (continuing to undo his pants): I wasn't laughing at you, Todd, I swear. I was laughing at what you're wearing.
Todd: What's so funny about what I'm wearing?
[Tea lets his pants drop to the floor and puts her hands around him and inside his boxer shorts like she had when they were on the bed.]
Tea (smiling while looking into Todd's eyes): Boxers and briefs?
Todd: Well...I couldn't decide...
Tea (moving her hands out of his shorts and up his back): I would never laugh at you, Todd.
Todd: You promise?
Tea: I promise...(Tea kisses Todd)... but if you continue to wear boxers and briefs at the same time I will laugh at that.
Todd: You have a weird sense of humor, Delgado.
Tea (studying his eyes): Are you okay?
Todd: Yeah.
Tea: Obviously you still don't trust my love for you.
Todd: I do.
Tea: Do you?
Todd: We wouldn't have gotten this far if I didn't. I just don't understand why you want to be here with me.
Tea: There's no place else that I want to be. There's no one else that I want to be with.
Todd: All those months there was no one else?
Tea: Of course not. I've never made love before, Todd...
Todd: What?!
Tea: I've been with people...I've...I've had sex before but I've never been in love before. The people that I was with before some I liked and some I loved but you're the first person that I've been in love with. You're the first person...you're the only person that I'll ever truly make love with.
Todd (running his fingertips slowly up and down her back): You're in love with me?
Tea: Yes. Will you forgive me for laughing? Can we go back to what we were doing?
Todd: Well...
[Tea kisses Todd passionately and then starts kissing down his neck, his chest and then his stomach.]
Tea (looking up at Todd): Is this okay?
Todd (nervously): Sure.
Tea: You're brain isn't kicking in telling you to run?
Todd: My brain wants this too.
[Tea slowly lowers his boxer shorts. She can tell that he's slightly shaking as she moves the fabric down his legs. As she reaches for his briefs Todd stops her.]
Chapter Sixteen:
Tea (standing up): What's wrong?
Todd: Nothing. I just thought that maybe you would be more comfortable under the covers.
Tea (playing along with him): Maybe I would.
[Tea moves over to the bed and gets under the covers. Todd takes his time slowly approaching the bed. He gets in and pulls the covers up to his neck. Tea reaches out under the covers and strokes his chest.]
Tea: It's okay.
Todd: I'm fine.
Tea: Todd, if you're not ready for this...
Todd: I'm ready. I can do this.
Tea (moving her hand lower): Are you sure?
Todd (unconvincingly): Of course.
[Tea moves her hand back up his chest and moves her body closer to him. She lays her head on his shoulder and places her hand on his upper chest. After Tea has been lying still for several moments Todd lowers the covers and puts his hand on top of her hand.]
Todd: Why did you stop?
Tea: You're not ready.
Todd: I told you I was ready.
Tea: You lied.
Todd: I did not.
Tea: Oh, really?
[Tea quickly moves her hand down Todd's stomach and grabs him through his briefs. Todd moves his body away from her on the bed.]
Tea: You're not ready.
Todd: I am too. You just can't make any sudden movements.
Tea: Todd, I went slow and you panicked, I went fast and you panicked. You're not ready.
Todd: This is my body. I know that I'm ready.
Tea: Do you want me to try again?
Todd: Yes. Slow this time.
Tea: Okay.
[Tea moves the covers down to reveal Todd's chest. She kisses and caresses his chest and his stomach. Todd closes his eyes and enjoys the feeling of Tea's touch and her hair falling onto his bare chest. Tea slowly draws her attention further down Todd's body until she reaches the top of his briefs. Careful to make sure his lower body stays under the covers she starts to slowly lower his briefs as she continues to kiss his stomach. As she very gradually moves his briefs down she can feel his body starting to tremble. She looks up at him but he gives no indication that he wants her to stop so she continues. After she has his briefs half way down his legs she uses her feet to slide them the rest of the way down and off his body as she moves her own body back up and kisses his chest and neck. By this time he is noticeably shaking. Tea waits several minutes for his body to calm down. She gently kisses his neck and caresses his chest. His body continues shaking.]
Tea (extremely concerned): Maybe you should put them back on.
Todd: No.
Tea: Todd, your body is having a negative reaction to being naked. Put your clothes back on.
Todd: I said no.
Tea: Fine...then I'll leave the room.
[Todd grabs Tea's arm which is draped across his chest.]
Todd: Don't.
Tea: I can't stay here and let you continue convulsing.
Todd: It will stop.
Tea: It hasn't so far. (pause) Why is this happening?
Todd: It's not important.
Tea: I think it's very important.
Todd (looking in her eyes): Memories.
Tea: From...
Todd: Yeah, from that.
Tea: Did I do something that reminded you...
Todd: No. Not really. It didn't used to be this bad. I could usually control it but lately, the last few years, it's gotten worse. The memories...the memories they seem more vivid and it's harder for me to push them away when I need to.
Tea: Maybe you shouldn't. Maybe you should face them...deal with them.
Todd: I already told you - no therapy.
Tea: I won't push you to go but maybe you should think about it. If you're not able to deal with your problems on your own, if it's getting more difficult, you need to do something. Look at how it's affected your life and our marriage.
Todd: I'm trying.
Tea: I know that you are but maybe you need help to deal with everything that your father did to you. There's so much that haunts you.
Todd: All I need is you, Tea.
Tea: That's never been true in the past. Why would it be true now?
Todd: Because it is. I know that it's been a hassle for you. I know that with another guy it wouldn't have taken this long but if you want to be with me all of my garbage comes with me.
Tea: Well, maybe a therapist could help you to get rid of some of that garbage so there would be more room for other things...like love and happiness.
Todd: Let's not talk about this anymore right now.
Tea: Todd...
Todd: Tea, right now all I want is you. You help me. I'll prove it to you. Kiss me.
[Tea leans her head up and kisses Todd. Todd takes Tea's hand and moves it down to his stomach. He holds it there for several minutes until his body stops shaking. As they continue kissing Todd guides Tea's hand lower. His body starts shaking again but after a few minutes his body calms down again. Todd takes his hand off of Tea's hand and gently caresses up her body until he finds her breast. After a few more minutes Todd returns his hand to Tea's hand and removes it from his body. He rolls her onto her back and spends several minutes kissing and teasing her breasts before moving his hands down her body. As he removes the shorts she's wearing he feels her body slightly tremble.]
Todd: I guess I'm not the only one.
Tea: I'm cold.
Todd: Yeah, sure.
Tea: Maybe if you held me it would help.
[Todd kisses Tea while he embraces her. After her trembling subsides he gets on top of her. Tea gasps as he enters her, scaring Todd.]
Todd (worried): Did I hurt you? I hurt you, didn't I?
Tea: No, you didn't hurt me. I just wasn't expecting...
Todd: I should have gone slower, right? I'm sorry.
Tea: Don't be sorry. This is fine.
Todd: Are you sure? Does it hurt?
Tea: No.
Todd: I could remove...
Tea: No! I don't want you to do that.
Todd: What should I do?
Tea: Whatever comes naturally.
Todd: Are you sure?
Tea: Oh, I'm positive.
[Todd leans down and kisses Tea tenderly.]
Todd: I'm in love with you too, Tea...um...(awkwardly)...honey.
Tea: Call me Delgado.
Todd: I'm in love with you, Delgado.
