PREVIOUSLY...

Todd: You don't want to kiss me anymore?

Tea: I definitely want to. If I start, though, I may not be able to stop.

Todd: We should probably wait then.

Tea: Just one hug, Todd. You were away so long. I need to feel your arms around me again.

[Todd finally places his arms around her and holds her tightly as they both take pleasure in each other again.]

chapter 201:

[Minutes later...

Todd is sitting at the counter, devouring Tea's sandwich. Tea is seated on the stool next to him, watching him. Tea reaches her hand out and lightly moves several strands of hair away from his face.]

Todd: Hey! I'm eating here.

Tea: I've missed you.

Todd: You already said that.

Tea: I felt like saying it again.

Todd: Why?

Tea: Because I really missed you. I want you to know that.

Todd: Well, now I know. You can stop saying it.

Tea: I don't think I can. I missed you, Todd.

Todd: Are you on something?

Tea: Like what?

Todd: I don't know. You're acting weird.

Tea: I'm acting like I love you, because I do.

[Todd grumbles and pushes away the plate in front of him. Tea moves it out of their way.]

Tea: I love you, Todd.

Todd: You can quit saying that, too.

Tea: Why are you here?

Todd: If you don't want me around, I'll leave.

Tea: You know I don't want that.

Todd: How do I know that? You had a whole week to get used to not having me around. Maybe you figured out that you liked it.

Tea: I had longer than a week when you left town after our second wedding. I didn't like it then.

Todd: You didn't exactly spend those months alone, though, did you? You probably didn't spend this week alone, either.

Tea: Don't start.

Todd: Start what?

Tea: Just don't. We both missed each other. We both have been looking forward to tonight. Don't try to ruin it.

Todd: Why would I do that?

Tea: I don't know. But, I'm asking you not to, okay?

Todd: So...how much longer do we have to stick around here?

Tea: Carlotta should be back soon.

Todd: You said that when I first got here.

Tea: You've only been here a few minutes. You never did tell me why you're here so early.

Todd: We left early.

Tea: Any particular reason?

Todd: Not really.

Tea: Is everything okay with Starr?

Todd: Sure.

Tea: Your relationship is doing well?

Todd: She seems to like me again.

Tea: Of course she does. You didn't take her on too many scary rides, did you?

Todd: Are you kidding? That kid was dragging me around that place, making me wear weird things on my head.

Tea: I wish I could have seen it.

Todd: She took pictures. I think she wanted something to blackmail me with when she gets older and wants a car.

Tea: I really appreciate that you called every night.

Todd: It was Starr's idea.

Tea: Was it?

Todd: Yeah, she thought you might be lonely. She's thoughtful that way.

Tea: So is her daddy, when he wants to be. I was lonely, Todd. I've gotten used to being with you everyday...talking to you...making love to you.

Todd: You were probably relieved to get a break from all that.

[Tea can't hold back any longer and finally begins caressing his chest through his shirt, the way she's wanted to since he arrived minutes earlier.]

Tea: There was no relief with you gone. Tonight, I hope to have relief...several times.

Todd: Several, huh?

Tea: Yes.

Todd: You don't want to take the night off?

Tea: I've taken an entire week off and I'm ready to scream. I need you so much.

Todd: Maybe you should tell me what kind of stuff you need. I'm not very good at guessing, you know.

Tea: I think you're very good at guessing my needs...anticipating my wants...fulfilling my desires.

Todd: Does being around food always turn you on like this?

Tea: Being around you turns me on. I'm so turned on right now, Todd. I'm so overwhelmingly ready to be with you again.

[Tea leans closer and brings her lips to his as her hand moves down the front of his body.]

chapter 202:

Todd can't stop himself from responding to Tea, despite the fact that they're sitting at a counter at Carlotta's diner. Anyone walking by outside the diner right now would be able to see them. Carlotta is expected back soon and could easily catch them. None of this matters in this moment, though. All that matters is that it's been a week since they've been together and right now her lips are on his and her hand is caressing him through his pants.

As Todd presses his tongue into her mouth, Tea moans as she allows the excitement of being with him again wash over her. For several minutes they both give in to their desire for each other, oblivious to their surroundings.

Outside the diner, Carlotta approaches. She's surprised as she looks through the window and sees Todd and Tea in an embrace. She thought that Tea wasn't expecting him for several more hours. Clearly, he has arrived early and clearly he and Tea are in the process of reacquainting themselves with each other.

As Carlotta continues to watch, she's amazed at the amount of sensuality on display in front of her. She knew that they had consummated their relationship some time ago but to actually see for herself a moment of sexual enjoyment between them, makes it more real to her. She had preferred the idea that Tea not be with Todd in that way, concerned about Tea's safety. From the way that Tea is smiling at Todd and nuzzling his face between kisses, Carlotta can tell that Tea is thoroughly enjoying Todd at the moment. Given that Tea's hand is out of sight between their bodies and Todd is making jerking movements with his body, Carlotta has a good guess what Tea's hand is doing right now.

A part of Carlotta still wants to rush into the diner and stop what's happening at the moment but she knows that it wouldn't stop Tea from leaving with him. The more Carlotta watches, though, the less she fears for Tea. She particularly watches Todd's face, looking for any sign of the menacing Todd she's come to know and loathe, through the disturbing things he's done to others over the years. She doesn't see anything menacing, though. She stares at his face with disbelief showing on her own face. As she secretly watches them in a private moment, she can't believe that she's actually seeing Todd Manning smile.

She thinks he's smiling anyway. Every time she sees a smile beginning to form, Todd kisses Tea again. She's still fairly certain that she is actually observing Todd Manning smiling.

Todd Manning...happy and smiling? This is bizarre.

Carlotta can't even recall if she's ever seen him smile before. She's certainly seen him smirk many times but right now, alone with Tea, she's certain that's not a smirk on his face.

As Tea's hand moves up from between their bodies and they physically separate themselves, Carlotta watches as Todd turns slightly away from Tea as she walks around the counter and pours them both a cup of coffee. The look on his face, the joy she sees there as he tries to hide his smiling face from Tea, tells her all that she needs to know.

Tea is safe.

Carlotta feels certain now that Todd views the woman before him as his Tea...someone special...some he treasures. He really will protect her the way that Tea said he would, because he really does love her.

Carlotta quickly turns and leaves before she is seen by the occupants of the diner.

chapter 203:

[A few minutes later...

Tea is still standing on the other side of the counter from where Todd sits. They've both agreed that the only way to keep their hands, lips and other body parts, off of each other, while they await Carlotta's return, is to not be too near each other physically.

Todd and Tea are both eating dessert...sublimating their passion with pie. Neither is satisfied but each is anxiously awaiting Carlotta's quick return so they can leave and go back to the penthouse and make love. That is, if they even make it to the penthouse. The back seat of one of their cars, or a return to the docks, would be agreeable locations for either of them, just as long as they can be physically together again as soon as possible.

The telephone rings. Todd continues eating while Tea answers the phone.

Carlotta is calling from a nearby pay phone.]

Tea: Carlotta? Is something wrong?

Carlotta: No, not at all. It does appear that my errand will take longer than I expected, though.

Tea: Oh...

Carlotta: I'm afraid our plans for this evening will have to be postponed.

Tea: You're sure that nothing's wrong?

Carlotta: I had brought some leftover food to an elderly woman who lives in the neighborhood...

Tea: That's a wonderful idea, rather than throwing it away.

Carlotta: Yes, but she seems to be especially lonely and heartsick tonight. I know that we had agreed to spend some time together this evening but I think this dear woman needs my attention tonight. I hope you understand.

Tea: Of course. Actually, I was going to cancel our plans as soon as you returned anyway. Todd came back early.

Carlotta: Oh, is he waiting for you to come home?

Tea: Actually, he came looking for me. I didn't want to leave until you came back.

Carlotta: You and Todd must be anxious to proceed with your evening. You remember how to lock up the diner, don't you?

Tea: Of course.

Carlotta: I think I'll go straight home when I finish here so you can stay at the diner as long as you like, without worry of interruption. There is plenty of food, of course. Help yourself. There are candles in the back. If you close the blinds and turn down the lights you could have a lovely dinner together.

Tea (surprised): Carlotta... Thank you. That's very thoughtful. Maybe we'll take you up on that. We had begun a rather important...conversation...just moments before you called. If you're positive you wouldn't mind if we stayed a while.

Carlotta: Have a romantic evening with your...well, with Todd. You deserve to be happy, Tea.

Tea: Thank you. And, Todd thanks you, too.

[Tea gestures to Todd who has been listening to her end of the phone conversation and is about to respond negatively to her last statement. Todd begrudgingly doesn't make his comment and instead reaches for Tea's plate and begins eating what's left of her slice of pie.

Carlotta and Tea finish their phone conversation. After hanging up the receiver of the pay phone, Carlotta picks it up again. After a slight hesitation, she nervously dials the phone number of her former flame, Hank Gannon. After arranging what she assumes will, quite possibly, turn into a sexual encounter in her diner, she's reminded of past sexual encounters she's had at the diner herself, with Hank. She's been thinking about him a great deal lately and seeing Tea so in love, after so much heartache in the past, has convinced Carlotta to risk her own heart again, too.]

chapter 204:

[At the diner, Todd finishes Tea's dessert for her as Tea completes her phone conversation with Carlotta.]

Tea: Bad news.

Todd: What?

Tea: Carlotta's been delayed.

Todd: So, we're stuck here longer?

Tea: No. Actually, she canceled our plans. She's not coming back tonight.

Todd: What's the bad news?

[Tea ignores him as she replays her phone conversation in her mind.]

Tea: She sounded strange.

Todd: Who cares?

Tea: I do, Todd.

Todd: Whatever.

Tea: She said that we could stay here, have dinner, light candles, have a romantic evening.

Todd: That is strange. She hates my guts. Why would she want you to have a romantic anything with me?

Tea: Maybe she has fully come around to accepting our relationship. I know she's been trying to be more understanding recently.

Todd: Tea?

Tea: Yes?

Todd: Why the hell are we staying here, talking about someone I don't give a damn about? Let's get out of here and find somewhere to get it on.

[Tea laughs and reaches across the counter and caresses Todd's chin.]

Tea: We could stay here.

Todd: You want to do it here?

Tea: I think that maybe Carlotta was trying to tell me that it would be okay with her.

Todd: That's just gross.

Tea: What is?

Todd: I don't want anyone knowing what we're doing.

Tea: You've given Viki detailed reports.

Todd: That's just because it freaks her out when I do.

Tea: And, you enjoy that?

Todd: Not as much as I enjoy gathering the details to tell her.

Tea: Well, just imagine how surprised she would be if you report that we made love in the same place that she frequently eats lunch.

Todd: She might pop a vein.

Tea: Well, I certainly hope not.

Todd: So, are we doing this, or what?

Tea: Are you sure you're not too full after eating so much?

Todd: You're the one who's gonna be full in a few minutes.

Tea (shocked): Todd!

Todd: Damn! I thought getting away from you for a week would cure me.

Tea: Of what exactly?

Todd: This addictive need I seem to have whenever I'm around you.

Tea: I feel it, too.

Todd: Then why are we still talking?

Tea: We're not.

[Tea walks around the counter and gives Todd her best seductive glance as she approaches him.]

chapter 205:

[As Tea approaches Todd, she smiles seductively at him. Todd takes a deep breath, amazed, as he always is, that this incredible woman wants him, and only him.

Todd stands up and they come together in a passionate kiss. Their bodies perfectly meld together as they embrace.

Todd's hand slowly moves down her back and over her buttocks as he pulls her body into his. As his other hand ventures in the same direction, he suddenly stops. Their kiss ends as Todd steps away from her body.]

Todd: We can't do this yet.

Tea: We don't have to do it here. Let's go home.

Todd: I can't wait that long.

Tea: The car?

[A slight smile forms on Todd's lips as he visualizes making love to Tea in his car...in her car...in any car.]

Todd: That could work...later. But, I can't wait that long, either. I need you...right here, right now.

Tea: Todd...

[Tea approaches him but he quickly steps away from her and turns toward the diner's windows.]

Todd: Unless you want to get arrested for putting on an incredibly hot sex show, in a public place, we better make this place private first.

[Tea quickly joins Todd in closing the blinds on the diner's windows.]

Tea: You do look really hot when we're making love.

Todd: Everyone would be staring at you. They wouldn't even notice me.

Tea: I highly doubt that. I know I have a hard time keeping my eyes off you...and my hands...and my...

[Tea looks in Todd's direction at the sound of his laughter.]

Tea: What's so funny?

Todd: You. Me. Us. This is funny, Delgado.

Tea: I think it's love.

Todd: Are you sure it isn't just lust?

Tea: Not for me. I do lust for you, that's obvious. But, I also love you so much. And, I like you. And, I adore you. And, I trust you.

[Tea approaches Todd as he's pulling down the shade that covers the door. As he turns around he finds Tea right in front of him. She steps into his personal space and looks into his eyes with a look that creates an exhilarating sensation in his chest.]

Tea: What about you? Is it more than lust for you?

Todd: Sure.

Tea: Could you elaborate a bit more?

Todd: Turn out the lights and I'll elaborate you against this door.

Tea: I thought maybe we'd try one of the booths.

Todd: Maybe later.

Tea: Maybe we should light some candles first.

Todd: Maybe you should stop stalling.

Tea: I'm not stalling. I want it to be romantic. Don't you?

Todd: No.

[Tea takes a step away from him and looks down. He knows that, yet again, words have messed things up for him.

Todd quickly walks away from her and turns off all the lights in the diner, including the ones in the kitchen. When he returns to the dining area, he takes a moment to allow his eyes to adjust to the darkness.

In the dark, he sees Tea sitting on the edge of a seat at one of the booths by the door. Her head is down. Todd approaches her, determined to make up for his lack of ability at knowing the right words to say.

As he reaches her, he softly touches his hand to her hair. She sighs. Sometimes his touch is so gentle...so loving. She wishes that more often his words would be just as gentle and loving, too.]

Todd: Candles aren't romantic.

Tea: Some people think they are.

Todd: Some people are idiots. Do you really need candles to do this?

Tea: I just thought...

Todd: You thought that all I wanted was to put you up against that door and put it in?

Tea: Did you have something else in mind?

Todd: No. That's pretty much what I wanted to do. And, after we finished making love against the door, I wanted to make love to you in every booth in this place, and on every stool at the counter, and on the counter, and on that big thing in the kitchen.

Tea: The preparation island?

Todd: I don't give a damn what you called it, I just want to make love to you on it and anywhere else that we can. I want to be inside you because...

Tea: Say the words.

Todd: I'm lousy at the words, you know that.

Tea: I want to hear them. I need to hear them.

Todd: They'll come out wrong.

Tea: Try anyway.

to be continued...
