Todd: I thought you were so certain you wouldn't fall asleep.
Tea: I was. I guess it's the excitement of the evening.
Todd: It's probably old age.
Tea: I am not that old. I'm younger than you are.
Todd: You don't look it.
Tea: You better stop right now.
Todd: Or, what?
Tea: I'll think of something.
[Tea looks out the window of the limousine and is surprised to see her apartment building.]
Tea: Aren't we going out to dinner?
Todd: You were sleeping so long, I figured you'd want to go home, instead.
Tea: I'm awake now. Let's go.
Todd: I don't feel like it now.
Tea: Are you sure?
Todd: You'd probably embarrass me by falling asleep and plopping your head down onto your plate.
Tea: I would not.
Todd: I don't think I should risk it.
Tea: You could come up and I could make us something.
Todd: I don't think so.
Tea: Okay. I guess this is goodnight. I had a great evening.
Todd: You liked your nap?
Tea: It was a very enjoyable nap.
[Tea smiles at Todd, making his heart beat faster as he nervously contemplates doing something that would put an instant end to their current attempt at just being friends.
Tea leans closer to Todd and places a soft kiss near his mouth. He's tempted to pull her into a passionate embrace, wanting more than a friendly kiss from her.
Tea turns and reaches for the door to let herself out of the limousine.]
Todd: Wait!
[Tea nervously turns back toward him.]
Tea: Why?
[Todd hesitates. He wants to kiss her. He wants to hold her. He wants to make love to her in the back seat of the limousine...in the elevator on the way up to her apartment...on the counter in her kitchen...in her bedroom...anywhere and everywhere that he can.
Instead, he pushes the intercom button and speaks to the driver.]
Todd: The lady is ready.
[The driver departs the front of the car and approaches the back door, on Tea's side of the car. He opens the door and offers his hand to help her out of the vehicle.
Tea looks at Todd for several more seconds, not yet wanting the evening to end.]
Tea: It really has been a wonderful evening, Todd.
Todd: Yeah, whatever!
Tea: I hope we do this again, although, we don't have to always do something this extravagant.
Todd: This was because of your birthday.
Tea: It was a great birthday. Well, I guess you know where to find me now, if you want to talk, or do anything else together, in the future.
Todd: Right.
[Tea turns from him and exits the car, disappointed that their evening isn't ending the way she had hoped.
As she enters the building, Todd's limousine speeds away. In the lobby of her building, Tea realizes that she left her purse in the limousine. She curses her stupidity but laughs at the realization that Todd still has the ability to muddle her thoughts so much when they're together that she forgets everything but his presence, and the way it makes her feel.
She hopes that her forgetfulness will at least guarantee another visit from Todd the next day. Seeing him every day again is a habit she definitely wants to return to.
Minutes later...
After retrieving a spare key from the building manager, she enters her apartment. She immediately checks the messages on her answering machine. While she listens to the messages, she begins to undress. By the time the recorded messages are done playing, she's completely naked and enters the bathroom and steps into the shower.
The water pours down her body in comforting warmth. It's not the kind of warmth she was hoping to be comforted by tonight, but it's still a comforting feeling.
As she showers, she thinks about the evening. She knows that she shouldn't have expected anything more to happen between them. After all, she told Todd several times that she only wanted to be friends. She shouldn't be surprised that he didn't make a pass at her. She can't stop herself from being disappointed, though. She does admit to herself, however, that a platonic friendship with Todd is truly better than not having him in her life at all.
Minutes later, when Tea steps out of the shower, she exits the bathroom and slowly walks toward her bedroom while drying herself off.
She hears a noise and instinctively raises her head toward it.
Her towel drops from her hand as she stares in shock at Todd, who is staring at her completely naked body openly on display for him.]
