Tea: Nothing is in the past for me. I've loved you since the moment I met you Todd. I've always seen more there than anyone else. I love the way I feel when Im around you and I hate it when Im not around you.
Todd: Oh my God, why?
Tea: God indeed. I truly believe that God brought us together Todd. Don't you?
Todd: Don't blame him for me buying you.
Tea: Do you really look at it as buying me?
Todd: You really have to ask me that after I agreed to the no deal deal?
Tea: You lost me.
Todd: Usually do. But I always find you. Look! We made a deal. Then we made a deal to make it real, whatever the hell that was supposed to be. Then I screwed it all up and left. Now Im back. DEAL with it.
Tea: That's a deal.
Todd: I thought you wanted real.
Tea: That's a real deal, then.
Todd: But what's God got to do with this? You cant blame him if I screw it up again this time.
Tea: But don't you see Todd? Don't you get it? God gave you the strength to come back for me. I know how hard this has all been for you. I know how much you hate showing your real feelings.
Todd: That's because I don't have real feelings. I never have.
Tea: Knock it off, Manning. You have real feelings. You love your daughter, unconditionally and you survive that. In fact, youre a better man because of it.
Todd: There you go again, giving me credit for being a nice guy, when thats the farthest thing from the truth.
Tea: Not in my eyes, its not. Not in Gods eyes either, Todd. He sees everything.
Todd: Thats my problem with Him. He sees EVERYTHING. He KNOWS everything. He couldn't find room in His kingdom for the likes of me.
Tea: You must not know him very well then. Cuz He's there with you always. Whether you know it or not, whether you feel it or not, whether you
Todd: (sarcastically) like it or not.
Tea: I was going to say want Him there, or not. If you want to stop talking now we can. Im feeling warn out from today. Its been a very busy day, with an incredibly eventful evening. What will you ever do for an encore?
Todd: How about this?
Todd reaches over to Tea and gently pushes her toward the pillow on the bed. He reaches around to the covers and begins to tuck her in. She snuggles in to the middle of the bed and smiles.
Todd: If you liked that, you're gonna love this next move.
Tea looks at him and watches his every move. He walks around to the other side of the bed and motions with his hands for her to move over. Tea is shocked. So shocked she doesn't move. Todd begins to get in the bed on top of the covers.
Todd: That pillow good?
Tea: I've got no complaints.
Todd: This ones better (as he pats his shoulder).
Tea moves up and lays her head on his shoulder. He drapes his arm around her and pulls her closer in to his body.
Tea: Thank you for doing this for me.
Todd: Im not doing this for you. That thing under the bed seems to stay away from you. You're like Monster Spray.
Tea: What's Monster Spray?
Todd: When I was a little boy, Bitsy used to have this water bottle that she used for her indoor plants. When Peters abuse started, I used to awaken in her in the dead of night, screaming. One night, she brought me her water bottle and said that she had put a special chemical inside of it. It was Monster Spray. And she sprayed under my bed. And she sprayed around my bed. And she put the bottle on my night stand and told me I could spray whenever I felt the need to.
Tea: (looking up at Todd with her sad eyes) Did it work?
Todd: For a while. But once she left, nothing worked. And nothing works now. Even though the bastard's dead, nothing works. Nothing, that is, except for you. You're my Monster Spray.
Tea: Gee, thanks.
Todd: Don't mention it. And now, I wish you'd stop mentioning everything and go to sleep.
Tea: I can do that.
Todd: I get the last word Tea. You get to go to sleep and I get to watch. And I get the last word. Got it Tea? (pause) Good. Now good night and go to sleep. (pause) What? No good night Todd?
Tea: How will you ever get the last word if you keep asking me questions?
Todd: (raising his voice) Look! I told you I want good at this and that I would try. Just say good night Tea.
Tea: Good night, (pause) (giggling) Tea!
Todd: Very funny. Lets see if you'll still be laughing in the morning.
Tea: (whispering) Am I supposed to answer that?
Todd: (pushing her head down into his shoulder) Good night already.
Tea softly giggles. He allows her that. As long as he got the last word! That's all that matters. The last word AND her still here with him.
