A dark, gripping saga, JACK OF HEARTS is the tale of a man who tries to deal with the cards that fate deals him.
Jack lives with his girlfriend Suzanne and her six-year old daughter Katie. Loving and compassionate, he is nevertheless blind to Suzanne's wish to advance her career. Behind his back, she accepts a dream job in her hometown of Cardiff as a lecturer at the
University. She moves, leaving Jack behind as she begins to prepare herself - and an inconsolable Katie for a new life away from the urban rat race.
Meanwhile Jack's life on the streets in London becomes more difficult to bear. After dodging bullets and getting knifed, Jack decides to fill an available position in Cardiff and arrives unexpectedly at Suzanne's door, to her obvious delight.
However, little does Jack know trouble has followed him: his new supervisor Caroline feels threatened by Jack's abilities and has been secretly hiding cases from him, cases that he must resolve quickly. Meanwhile, Suzanne discovers that she will be working alongside an old lover, Joe. And Jack finds himself at odds with Suzanne's father, Peter, especially when they both try to play dad to Katie. When Suzanne realizes her affections lie with Jack rather than Joe, and agrees to marry him, Peter's anger only escalates.
Meanwhile, a furious Caroline undermines Jack still further, and convicted felons turn up at his house. Can Jack ever turn up trumps?
Aside from brilliant performances by Anna as Suzanne Pryce and Keith Allen as Jack Denby, the cast also includes Miranda Llweyllen Jenkins, Andrew Sachs, Ruth Madoc, Geraint Morgan, Paul Greenwood and Anthony Booth.
