THE BRAT PACK 2001 New Zealand’s hottest comedy showcase is back! The Brat Pack, featuring Jeremy Elwood, Terry Frisby, Rhys Darby and Chris Brain, took New Zealand by storm in 2000, playing to rave reviews at the TV2 International Laugh! Festival, a comprehensive South Island tour, showcase weekends at The Classic Comedy and Bar in Auckland, and a host of other appearances. All told, The Brat Pack let loose their suave, sexy comedy stylings in front of over 8000 paying customers last year, and in 2001 they’re set to do it all again. The Brat Pack is New Zealand’s top showcase of rising stand up comedians, with the four members having amassed a world of experience between them. Chris Brain began his stand up career in London, before returning to Christchurch as a core member of the Four Fingers Missing comedy troupe. Since then, he has rapidly become a sought after MC and Feature act at regular shows around Auckland and the country. 2001 marks Chris’s farewell to New Zealand audiences, as he prepares to return to the U.K. professional circuit. Rhys Darby, also from Christchurch, has been described as New Zealand’s most physical comedian. His sensational blend of sound effects, characterisation and askew observation has been reducing audiences nationwide to a state of bewildered hysteria. Rhys’s solo show “Rhys Darby and the Time Machine” played two return seasons in Auckland after last years festival, but his stand up comes to the fore as part of “The Brat Pack”. Jeremy Elwood, born in Canada, raised in the U.K. and now based in NZ, has performed throughout New Zealand, Canada, Scotland and Australia, including appearances at the prestigious Toronto Yuk Yuk’s superclub, and the Glasgow Comedy Festival. combining biting social commentary with music, songs and devastating delivery, Jeremy’s unique blend of audience rapport and rock and roll showmanship has earned him praise around New Zealand and the world. Terry Frisby, “The thinking man’s pervert” , is making a short return to New Zealand for The Brat Pack 2001 after establishing himself on the competitive U.K. comedy circuit. A crowd favourite last year, his experience as a top MC and performer in London should lend an even harder, wittier edge to his comedy in 2001. Be prepared, this man will make you laugh before you know how offended you are! The Brat Pack. Smoother, sexier, more dangerous than ever before, and coming to a venue near you in 2001.
