Andrew John Lachey
The spark behind the 98
Degree phenomena is founding
member Jeff Timmons. Jeff first
got the ball rolling as he
decided to leave his home
state of Ohio and set off to Los
Angeles, California to pursue a
career in the entertainment
industry. He brought along with
him his friend, John Lipman,
who was also aspiring singer.
After unsuccessful attempts to
forge a group together, the two
were introduced to fellow Ohio transplant Nick Lachey. It was Nick who would later
invite his former college buddy Justin Jeffre to round out the quartet. But after
months of failed attempts to gain any recognition for their talents, John quit the
group and left the remaining three with a huge hole to fill. But the set back proved to
be a blessing in disguise as Nick called upon his little brother, Drew Lachey, to join
the group in dire need of a fourth member. Luckily, musical talent was in the
bloodlines as Drew wound up being the final piece to the 98 Degree puzzle.
However, they still had to search for their big break that had been doing quite the
job eluding them. That big break came at the back stage of a "Boys to Men"
concert. That is where the group met future manager Paris D'Jon, who eventually
signed them to a record deal with Motown Records. The first heat wave occurred as
98 Degrees first rose into public view with their hit single "Invisible Man," off of their
self-titled debut album from Motown Records. The temperature continued to rise
with their second album, 98 Degrees and Rising, that featured hits like "I
Do(Cherish You)." Their latest album, entitled Revelation, was released on
September 26. The much-anticipated album continued to add fuel to the 98 Degree
fire that has fans burning for more.
