I have heard from a reliable source (his best friend) that his mother went to bed after eating dinner and died in her sleep. Shahid
was realy close 2 his mum..At the moment,Shahid was in
Lahore with his wife
which is even worse..He did not know about the death until he arrived back and was not told till he arrived home...Anyways lets just all hope that the family and Shahid are
ok...and if i hear anything about Shahid i will let u know. As per Muslim tradition, the funeral took place within 24 hours. Shahid was devastated with this tragedy and did not want to be left alone at any time.....Just pray that he and his family are all fine.
Sharjah Tournament:
Doctor's report-SHAHID AFRIDI
Physically Shahid Afridi is quite fit and strong. However it seems that it becomes hard for him to follow the training programs on regular basis. Though when in for the training, he works and performs adequately but he needs to enhance his endurance training. Manager's Report-Shahid Afridi
Was as usual reckless and erratic. It seemed that he was never there to learn. Performed in the last one-day match but I suppose, he batted quite irresponsibly in the second and third. Needs to tone himself down, both on and off the field.
OOOOhhhh, so i take it he is not a good an angel as we thought he was!!!;)
Other interesting reports were:
IMRAN NAZIR
Imran Nazir discontinued the tour after the completion of the one-day international series. He is very fit and at a age where he is developing. His quadriceps’s are weak and needs to improve upon the weaker links. However he trains sufficiently and shows no hesitation in following the training programs. It seemed that he is under the influence of RAZZAK, AFRIDI and WASIM and showed his unwillingness to learn. He needs to be told about his limitations. Overall a talented batsman who didn’t play up to his standard.(!)

Shahid managed to retain his place in the side for the 5th ODI against New Zealand and although he played fabulously, scoring 65 off 55 balls(stylishly, of course!) and taking two catches, Pakistan lost by 4 wickets. This means that they lost the series 3-2 :(
Check out the Scorecard
Shahid was dropped for the third match, which Pakistan won by 28 runs. This however gave me the chance to realise how great a player Imran Nazir is. He batted really well and I must say he is quite attractive but not as much as Shahid, of course!!!!!!!

In the cricketing sense, Sha did not do to well in the Test Series against England. However, due to his wonderful performance in the ODIs, he is hoping to be chosen for the team to go to New Zealand. When he returned to the team after his marriage he took 5-40(his career best) and scored 61 off 69 balls. "It's always fantastic to figure in Pakistan's win and I had that in mind before the match to have my contribution," said Afridi. Afridi became only the seventh allrounder, and second Pakistani, to take five wickets and score above 50 in a limited overs match. After winning the Man of the Match award in the 2nd ODI against ENGLAND, Shahid receives a new car. A great wedding gift!
Inshallah, if he does get picked to go to New Zealand, he wants to take Nadia with him so they can finally go on their honeymoon. How sweet! or you can also Click here
SHAHID IS PICKED FOR ONE DAY SQUAD
Shahid has been picked for the Natwest One Day triangular series which includes England and Australia. Imran Nazir and Shoaib Malik have also been picked to join the squad.
The three will be joining the team on May 31.
BAD THINGS COME IN THREES??
After the sad demise of his mother, Shahids dadi(dads mum) suffered a mild heart attack possibly from the shock of hearing the news about his mother. It was not that serious but the family spent time in the hospital with her. Then, the PCB has announced the final squad for England and Shahid has NOT been included. However, i have a doubt in my mind that he would have gone anyway because of all his emotional problems at the moment.Afridi to make public appearance in Dubai!
Swiss watchmaking giant Rado Watch Co., has roped in Shahid to attend an autograph signing event at the Oriental Stores outlet at Al Khaleej Center in Dubai. The event will be held on April 17th at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited.
"The event gives an opportunity to all those present in Dubai and Sharjah to get an up close and personal look at their hard hitting hero, Afridi," according to a spokesman of Oriental Stores.
So, if you are in the area, go on over to Al Khaleej Center and enjoy.
Shahid wins Man of the Match!
Pakistan rode on a scintillating start by Shahid Afridi and Imran Nazir to trounce New Zealand by eight wickets in the Sharjah tri-series here on Thursday.
The openers smashed 79 in the first seven overs during a 113-run partnership to help Pakistan surpass New Zealand's challenging 266-7 with 7.5 overs to spare.
Veterans Saeed Anwar (81 not out) and Inzamam-ul Haq (71 not out) then added 157 for the unbroken third wicket to seal Pakistan's second successive win in preliminary league also featuring Sri Lanka.
Matthew Sinclair's maiden one-day century went in vain as the depleted
Kiwis suffered their second defeat in three days and must now win both their return games to stay in contention for the April 20 final.
Afridi raced to his half century off just 24 balls, taking 26 runs in one over from Grant Bradburn that included three sixes and two boundaries.
New Zealand, already without eight top stars including captain Stephen
Fleming, were forced to play Bradburn when premier strike bowler Daryl Tuffey pulled out with an ankle injury.
Afridi and Nazir put on 100 by the 10th over, before both fell in the space of six deliveries to restore sanity to the proceedings.
Afridi, who took two wickets in New Zealand's innings, was caught at mid-on off Andre Adams in the 15th over after striking seven fours and six sixes in his 70 off 43 balls.
Nazir, who looked pedestrian in comparison despite a quickfire 35, was trapped leg-before by Brooke Walker.
Afridi's power-packed innings overshadowed a majestic 117 from Sinclair, his maiden one-day century after recording two double hundreds in Test cricket.
McMillan hit 46 off 52 balls when he played on to Afridi, the sixth bowler employed by Pakistan to contain the run flow.
Afridi also trapped Lou Vincent leg-before to finish with two for 49 from his stipulated 10 overs.
The second round of the league starts on Friday with Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka.

A copy of the Manager's report on the Pak V NZ tour was leaked out. These are the extracts of Shahid's!
Afridi's Action is Cleared
Pakistani panel of former Test cricketers has cleared Shahid Afridi's bowling action which had been questioned by the International Cricket Council, officials said Saturday.
Afridi's bowling action was questioned by ICC earlier this month.
ICC's Australian match referee Barry Jarman raised suspicions over Afridi's bowling duing the one-day series against England in October last year.
"Afridi's faster ones had come under suspicion but we found nothing wrong in it," Qadir said.
Afridi, who is among the probables for the New Zealand-bound Pakistan team, said he was relieved by the decision.
"I knew there was no problem in my bowling action and I feel relieved on being cleared,"Afridi told AFP.
"Now I will concentrate on my performance on the New Zealand tour,"he said.
As per ICC rules, Afridi is free to play and if another report is made within 12 months, ICC will appoint its own man to review and improve Afridi's action.
In case the problem persists, the same Pakistani panel will come into action again and vote whether Afridi should be banned or not.
Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar and Shabbir Ahmed were cleared after their actions came under suspicion in 1999.
MARRIAGE:(
The latest news on Shahid regarding his personal life is his marriage (sob, sob). Yes, the 20 year old Pathani has decided to settle down finally after some incidents which were a bit concerning for his family. He got married in November to his cousin who is called Nadia. Every thing was done in the normal traditional Islamic way and he did not see his bride in person until the day. Congrats to the naya couple and inshallah, all should go well.
