This will be the last David Cassidy newsletter of Norway. I know it
is not what you wanted to hear, but I will try to explain why I have made
this decision.
The newsletter started up in September 1999 as a printed matter, to make Norwegian fans and the Norwegian press aware of the fact that David Cassidy was still around. In many ways I have succeeded. I made contact with fans, even Norwegians who went to England to see him last spring. A local newspaper wrote a full page article about me and this site, and a couple of other journalists called me and asked me about David. One of them worked for one of the major newspapers of Norway, with more than 600,000 readers every day. The newspapers still don't write about David though, but what would you expect? The "Then & Now" CD still has not been released over here, and David has never held a concert in Norway. Still, this site has had more than 25,000 visitors since it was launched in the spring of 2000. That's when I decided to move it online. The reason for this was to reach more people, but also because there weren't many good David Cassidy sites out there. I could search for hours, found a few pictures and some info, but not all on one site. Even DavidCassidy.com lacked a lot of the info that his fans requested. That's why I put all the info together and built this site. A lot of the other fan sites have improved since then, and I was planning on closing this site down when the new and improved DavidCassidy.com was launched last year. But at the moment this was the only European site, and David was about to release his first CD in the UK in 15 years, and he was about to announce his first UK tour also since 1986. Now I think the time is right. There are other and more important things in my life than staying updated all the time on the internet. I have two wonderful daughters and several friends that I hopefully will be able to spend more time with. The petition to induct David into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will end on December 31. Then I will send all signatures to the Hall, and the same day I will stop updating this newsletter. But the site will be left open for fans to visit still, but there will be a day when Angelfire will decide to close down the site, and I will not rebuild it. Therefore everybody who is willing to build a new fansite is welcome to use anything from this site. It has been fun. I've made many new friends, and I've met many of them at concerts. I've received many nice e-mails, so it's been positive in many ways. There are a lot of people I would like to thank. Especially the David Cassidy chat list on Yahoo! Groups and the Shaun Cassidy chat list on Topica, for helping me staying updated all the time, and e-mail me news when I've been on vacation, and of course, for being friends. I would like to thank Sue Shifrin-Cassidy and Beau Cassidy for being so nice and having the time to talk when I met you in Atlantic City two years ago. It was very much appreciated that you praised my site so highly. I would like to thank Ruth McCartney and Jo-Ann Geffen of David's management for being so helpful and supportive. At last, but definitely not least, I would like to thank Katie Cassidy for staying in touch personally. I really hope life will bring you the success you deserve. I'm really looking forward to buy your new CD in the spring. Someday I will hopefully be attending one of your concerts. If you ever make it to Scandinavia, I'll definitely be there. That I will stop updating this site, does not mean that I will turn my back to everything I've done. I will keep sending updates to the other fansites out there, I will keep Norwegian newspapers updated if something of interest is gonna happen, I will stay in touch with my new friends, and I will keep buying the music the Cassidys release and keep building on the biggest Cassidy record collection in Norway. I will also keep supporting Kidscharities.org. I would like to thank everybody who has visited my site, and wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and the best of luck with your lives and families. Thanks,
