I went February 5, 2001, to the New York show at Uniondale, and incase you do not live in New York, there was a snow storm that day. My dad was threatening not to take my friend and I to the concert because the roads were really bad...But we ended up going anyway. We left for the concert at 6:15 and ended up picking my other friend and her mother up.
Once we got to the arena it was pretty crowded. I was all excited. I had my camera in my bag, hidden under a picture of Brian, just in case they looked in my bag. When we got into the arena, luckily they didn't check our bags, and I ran to get a program, because my friend went the other night and told me that they sold out fast! I ended up getting one of the last ones. Then I bought a tour shirt. They only had a Large and I'm a small, but I didn't care so I just got it anyway.
So our ticket's said that we were supposed to go into Gate 1, and when I got in there I was like in shock because we were SO close to the stage...then the guy told us that the tickets were like misprinted and we were supposed to go into Gate 2. When we got into Gate 2, OMG, I was flipping. The stage was right there!!! I was like about to cry...We were not even like 10 feet away from the stage. For the people who went to the concert I was like not even 10 rows away from the left wing, so when the boys went up there we could almost touch them!
So, Elvis, a guy from our radio station came on, at about 7:35 telling the crowd that the concert was going to be delayed because of the snow. We all booed him off of the stage. It was so funny though, because one whole section, and it was a pretty good section (not as good as mine though) was not filled, but the crappy seats like BEHIND the stage were all filled!! Now those are true fans!!
Finially at 8:15 Krystal came on stage...Everyone screamed when Kevin gave his introduction. After she was off they said that we can meet her, by Gate 2!!! So Kristen, my friend, and I both went to meet Krystal. The line was already long when we got out there and people were pushing and shoving. But we met the *NICEST* girls, who said that we could cut them. Don't you just love the Backstreet fans? So we finially got to meet Krystal. She was so nice!! We got her autograph and I went to take a picture of her, but my camera wasn't working. I pressed it like 50 times, then it finially worked and I was like sorry I'm kind of retarted. And there was this guy taping me!! He was laughing. I will like seriously cry if that come up on a video!!
At about 9:00 or 9:15ish the metors hit the stage. I was so close I COULD FEEL THE FLAMES!!! I was tearing up. Then the boys came out and the whole arena eurupted into screams. I had tears in my eyes. When Nick sang the beginning, you know like the wierd voices, to Everyone the audience was like crazy. Then Brian's voice came on, and just for the record I was the LOUDEST at the concert screaming for Brian.
Nick, turned into AJ!!! AJ didn't have any sunglasses Nick did!!! Nick also did more sexual moves than AJ!!! I used my whole roll of film within the first 3 songs!! lol!!! Good thing I brought an extra roll!!!
Now, the whole concert was a blurr, but I remember when Brian waved to me...AHH!!! THat was the best. I was going to cry.
I did not sit down for the whole concert, except once when Kevin was talking and no one else was on stage, but everyone was down for that.
It was cool what they did with the dressing rooms. Brian gave Nick a toilet for his birthday present!! Lol... He's like you always go to the bathroom I thought that you would want a toilet! It was too cute!! And Howie was like there is not enough room here for you me and my hair!! LOL!!! IT was the best!!! AHHH!! I loved it!!!
If you did not see this concert you missed something GREAT!!! It was the best show!! You should try to catch them when they come back again. It was worth the $70 per ticket!!! And a tip for people who didn't get tickets yet, being on the sides of the stage are better than being in the middle!! Because I was so close!! My friend's were jealous!!!
