Cicero: A Brief Biography

Marcus Tullius Cicero was born on January 3rd, 106 B.C. in the Roman Empire. He first served in the Senate as a Quaestor in 75 B.C. When he was elected
consul in 63 B.C., he was the first man elected consul who had no consular lineage in over 30 years. During his time as a consul, he helped defeat an
attempted coup by Catiline. Cicero never liked autocracy, and so Caesar became something of an enemy to Cicero. Because of this, Cicero was forced to flee
Rome in 49 B.C., when Caesar invaded Italy. When Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C., Cicero became one of two leading men in Rome; the other was Mark Antony,
However, in September of that year, he began attacking Antony in a series of speeches. Because of this, he became an enemy of Antony, which eventually led
to his death on December 7th, 43 B.C., after Antony, along with Lepidus and Octavian (Caesar's heir), formed the "Second Triumvirate", a five-year autocratic pact.
