Seven of Nine

seven

This guitar is named "Seven of Nine" or just "Seven" for short. This is the other guitar named after a Star Trek character. This is also another Ibanez Universe. A UV777BK to be exact...

This guitar had no name until I played a show in Hollywood at the Cat Club. I met Jeri Ryan there, and got her autograph on the back of the guitar. I had asked what she'd been up to lately, and she mentioned her character on Star Trek Voyager. A Borg alien name Seven of Nine. Seemed cool, so I checked it out, and thought it was a neat character. The closest I became to being a Star Trek fan was watching about 5 episodes to see Jeri. I soon flaked though...Star Trek has always had this sleep-inducing effect on me...

This guitar is mostly stock, though has new Blaze pickups in it. The originals were kinda wimpy. For some reason, this guitar has a rather poorly routed neck pocket. It plays great, and sounds wonderful, but the tuning wavers a bit because the neck is constantly shifting in the pocket. That's why it has no whammy bar now. The bridge is blocked so it doesn't move at all, in an effort to stabilize the tuning. Whenever I used the whammy bar, the tension changes just threw the guitar out of tune, so I ditched it. It's a shame...I'd love to use Seven for more things, but it's just a recording guitar, where I have a tuner available...lol
