It was a week later when they still didn't know what was causing the problems with Jafari's liver and lungs. They released her from the hospital so they could evaluate their test results, she'd be back in the next day, but for the current time being, she was going to meet her cousins and aunt. It was a small family reunion, since one of her cousins worked at DisneyWorld in Florida, he could only be there for a short period of time. Brian explained to her what DisneyWorld was while they got ready. She seemed excited about it, so he made a mental note to suggest a summer trip to Orlando to his parents. He dressed in simple khaki pants and a white wife beater. She dressed in her new pair of jean shorts and a basketball jersey that said Kentucky WildCats, she now had her own that fit her perfectly. She hated shoes, but was told to wear a pair anyway. They were baby blue with dark blue shoelaces. Her hair was pulled into two pigtails and she played with Brian's hair as he played his gameboy. "Time to go, c'mon!" Harold Jr said and picked Jafari up (Jafari wasn't scared of Harold Jr anymore, but she was still close as ever to Brian). He swung her in his arms and she reached out for her baby duck. Brian grabbed it and followed his older brother and younger sister out of the room. He wondered how she'd act among her cousins, and around his Aunt Anne. The three piled into the backseat of the family van. Harold Jr. and Brian talked with their parents while Jafari just stared at the scenery. She remembered when she first arrived in Kentucky, she'd been so negative that day, for the first time she'd made Cealina mad at her. The ride was short, and Jafari was snapped out of her thoughts as Brian put her on his shoulders. When they got to the door she took a breath and waited for the people to answer. "Hey!" a woman answered. She figured it was her aunt and studied her features. She was nice looking, and looked like she could be a really sweet person. Her three cousins stood behind Aunt Anne. They were tall and looked alike in different ways. "Hey Jafari, I'm your Aunt Anne and these are your cousins: Tim, Jerald, and Kevin." Jafari nodded and smiled a little. So the Littrells went in and the adults went to one room while the younger adults went to Kevin's bedroom. Jafari sat in Harold Jr's lap and watched the five talk. They spoke about sports first and then moved onto the subject of school. "So Bri, you're a junior, only one more year." Kevin was saying. "Yeah, kind of sucks though, because I'm already eighteen." Brian replied. "Yeah, but you can't change it. You were sick when you were younger, so you had to repeat a grade." Tim said. Jafari played with Harold's hair, and he chuckled, "I think you should be a hair cutter some day." She shook her head in disaproval and the others laughed. "So what's it like to have a little sister Bri?" Jerald asked. "Very cool, we get to share a room too!" he goofed and ruffled her hair. She rolled her eyes and looked at Kevin, who seemed to be staring off into nothing. He looked at her and she looked away, no need for him to ask more questions about her. They all knew she didn't talk, they all knew she was way beyond smart, what they didn't know was that she knew that they knew. She was lost in her thoughts while they continued to talk, she just stared out the window, looking at the horse in the fields. Their words were a blur, she could barely see straight as she was sucked into daydreams. She wished she could remain in the place forever. Knowing all too well the true answer to that.
