Strawberry Interpretation

Strawberry was the first Everclear song that really grabbed my attention and pulled me in for good... When I was first introduced to Everclear by my older brother, it was by the way of World of Noise, and I was really young like 8 or 9. I had given it a few listens, and I can remember liking songs like Nervous & Weird and Loser Makes Good. It wasn't until I heard Strawberry that I knew that Everclear was the band for me. Although I didn't understand the lyrics at the time, they did inspire me to go through all the crap that life has to offer, because that's what this song is about. It's about knowing a path, having walked down that path, and not walking down it again because of the pain that was once there. It's about being sober for 10 years and then easily getting high again and wasting everything. This song has been the song that has always gotten me up from my downs and keeps me up... "Don't fall down now, you will never get up." It's one of those songs that symbolizes your youth (at least in my experience) by the memories you have while listening to the song, like the trip to South Dakota with nothing but S&F in my CD player, or the time I got dumped and sat in my room with strawberry on repeat just thinking, or the time my runaway brother sent me a letter with nothing but the lyrics to strawberry.... That's what Strawberry is about, screw your demons, just don't give in... and it's just too incredible of a song not to get a lengthy interpretation...
