Colorfinger Bio

After the falling out of his country-rock band the Easy Hoes in 1989, Art was looking to start a solo project. He asked his friend Karl Maruyama from L.A. to help on the album. But soon the solo project turned into a band. They recorded under names such as the Art Alexakis project or the killjoy Combo but never under a serious name. Eventually they settled on Colorfinger. The band recorded their debut album on Art's label Shindig Records titled, "Deep In The Heart Of The Beast In The Sun". Then the band went on a succession of very promising tours and a buzz soon encircled the band. Soon they were playing with bands the caliber of Thin White Rope and the Smashing Pumpkins. Before their 4th and unfortunately final tour they released a promo e.p. which contained the Twistinside and Heartspark Dollarsign which we all know both eventually became Everclear songs. And also before the tour kicked off there was a change in the lineup, original bassist Buz Rico left the group after a fight between him and Eric Neves the drummer and was replaced by Andy Marouder (not sure if thats how its spelled correctly). On their 4th and final tour things fell apart for the band and they subsequently broke up shortly afterwards because Shindig Records went under in 1991. After the band broke up Art took Karls credit card and bought passage to Portland to settle with his girlfriend and we all know what became of his next band. Karl and Eric formed a band called Superfuzz, but broke apart after a few years also. Today Eric releases his own country albums, while Buz went back to his band Chrome who he is still with today.
