2 Kings 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel:
and as he was going up by the way,
there came forth little children out of the city,
and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up,
thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

Baldness was considered a curse or time of sorrows.
It's most likely Elisha had a full head of hair.
Here we see it being used as a curse.

24 And he turned back, and looked on them,
and cursed them in the name of the LORD.
And there came forth two she bears out of the wood,
and tare forty and two children of them.

Young men were still called children even well into their thirtys.

42 is also symbolic number for type of antichirst,
he will reign 42 months.

Here we see it as being used in a time of sorrow.

Jeremiah 16:6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land:
they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them,
nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
