What would this site be with out Satanism?
When people mention to others that they are a Witch they get a mixture of responses, some people conjure up images of an old woman with a pointy hat standing over a Cauldron sprinkling a mixture of herbs into the water, creating some magical potion. Others have images of inverted pentagrams, goats heads and an altar with a human child or animal about to be sacrificed by a glistening ceremonial blade with indistinguishable mystical looking writing on the handle, along with a bunch of naked spectators! However neither of these images are correct and Wiccans and Witches of today are still trying to clear up any negative stereotypes that Hollywood and the Church have created (although most would prefer the former image). Most Witches will defend themselves saying things like Witches/Wiccans are peaceful, nature loving people who are part of some lost ancient religion of the Celts. This isn't true either well the part about the ancient religion of the Celts anyway. They will also say to you that there are and never were evil Witches ever! All Witches are White Witches or Good ones. This is also BS! There have been many cases of Witches who have cast nasty spells on people. Either on their own behalf or on their clients. Nonetheless the point I am trying to get to here is Wicca/Witchcrafts connection to Satanism if any? |
Pagan Witches deny worshipping
Satan because that their belief system doesn't recognise the Judeo-Christian
faith in anyway at all. They will say things like "How can I worship something I
don't believe in" etc. And the Christians will say "You may not know who you are
Worshipping the Devil has many disguises" etc etc. "But Hey Buddha is the Devil
too you know!"
As stated before many Witches claim that there are only Good Witches, This is untrue! Tell
a Witch from the Church of Satan that there are no Black Witches and they will
probably put a Hex on you as soon as look at you! What I am trying to say here is yes
there is Black Witches about and they do practice Black Magic but any Wiccan you meet will
try to deny this. It is also worth stating that I am not talking about the bored teenager
who dabbles in Satanism after listening to his favorite Heavy Metal band and murders his
girlfriend to please Satan. This is not true Satanism, The aim of True Satanism is to
become god-like, hence superior to other people. Also many Satanists don't literally
believe in Satan, They believe in what Satan stands for, personal power and individuality.
Here is a few similarities between Wicca/Witchcraft and Satanism:
*Both use Magic.
*Both Call Quarters.
*Both cast a Magic Circle.
*Both Call themselves Witches.
*Some Sects of Satanism recognize the Celtic festivals (Sabbats).
*Both use ritual tools e.g. Ritual Blade.
*Both wear ceremonial garb.
*Both use Crowleyean material in ritual
*Both have philosophies of self-responsibility
*Both have a live
and let live policy (although if pushed Satanists have an offensive policy)
*Both teach inner strength and individuality
*Neither indulge in Human or Animal sacrifice
This isn't very extensive but you get the picture there are similarities Between Wicca and Satanism.
Some differences of note would be:
*A belief
in a Dark Force recognised as Satan
*Wiccans honor a Horned God and Moon Goddess
*Satanism is the
antithesis of Christianity, Neo-Pagans do not recognise God or Satan.
*Satanists are indulgent,
it is their belief that most religions preach abstinence, they reject this and
indulge in the pleasures of the flesh. e.g. Sex, Food etc.
*Satanism teaches revenge. Wicca has the ideology of leaving it to Karma.
*Satanism teaches to live in the here and now, Wicca during life teaches spiritual growth for the afterlife and next life.
As you can see there is much in common between Wicca and Satanism. Although neither likes to be compared to the other, The ultimate Philosophy of each religion largely differs but on the surface they appear quite similar.
Don't be prejudiced and check out the Nine Satanic statements below to learn more about the true Philosophy of Satanism.
The Nine Satanic Statements
from The Satanic Bible, ©1969
by Anton Szandor LaVey
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development," has become the most vicious animal of all!
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!
