-Introduction to Mummies-Mummy. A word used to describe a dead human body that has been preserved by embalming techniques or by nature. Mummies have been found in lots of different regions of the world such as Egypt, North America, South America, China, Peru and more. This site tells about the mummies of Ancient Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians preserved the deceased in the form of mummies because they believed that they were reborn after death. Therefore they would need a body for the after life. If you had lived between 3400 BC and AD 641 you would have been mummified. Read -the embalming process- to find out how it would take place. Hello.
