Angel: "It's been a lifetime. Darla: "Or two, But who's counting?"
Darla visits Angel in 1997. She misses him deeply. She is also sickened that he loves Buffy, someone who hates them. She brings up the good old times like budapest. She also comments on his living above ground and living "like one of them". "But guess what precious? You're not one of them... are you?" She continues to state that she isn't afraid of him. And that if the Buffy thang doesn't work out He knows where she'll be.

Then Darla dreams up a little plan to get Angel to return to her. She wants him to kill Buffy, to keep Buffy from killing him. Darla frames Angel for biting Buffy's mom. Buffy believed it and proced to tell Angel she'll kill him.

After that incident Darla pays Angel another memorable visit. She pushes him until she can see his anger building and then she pushes him some more. Darla: "Don’t let her hunt you down. Don’t whimper and mewl like a mangy human. Kill. Feed LIVE." Angel slammed her against a wall , holding her wrists. "All right." he says. "What do you want?" she breathily asks. "I want it finished” is his sinister reply. "That’s good." She looks at her wrists. "You’re hurting me, thats good too."

Angel went to the bronze intent on killing Buffy and returning to Darla. But he just couldn’t bring himself to kill her. Darla appeared, disappointed, and shot Angel in the shoulder and tried to kill Buffy. Because of his soul Angel couldn’t let Darla kill Buffy. Her staked Darla with a crossbow bolt. She whispered his name in disbelief and clung to him a moment before exploding into dust. Angel looked stricken he could not bring himself to speak. He had crossed too many lines and could never go back.
