THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE APPEARS TO WORK SUCCESSFULLY FOR HCOL.
==============================================================

Use TESTIT to make the mailable file (TESTIT.TMP), i.e. no change

Logon to HCOL

Go to the WRITE MESSAGE screen -

Enter the "To:" information and Check the "Plain Text" check-box

DO NOT ENTER AN ATTACHMENT

Hit OK

At the WRITE MESSAGE word processor screen, where you would normally type
your message, do not type a message, INSTEAD, Select File and LOAD
then when the "file open" window appears, search for *.* and select
TESTIT.TMP (or whatever you renamed the output from TESTIT)

Send the message

If you get the AVAILABLE CARRIERS dialog box ... Select HCOL and hit CONTINUE

If you are not using HCOL and are still having the base64 problem
==================================================================

If you cannot send a text file, send a UUENCODED file, I can deal with
those.

Try contacting the IP supplier, E-Mail software supplier or use HELP or
the reference manual that came with the software about how to make a
text or UUENCODED file attachment or enclosure.

Try getting a SAAC-NET account in H207 and using Pegasus Mail from a
computer in that room. Pegasus mail offers you a choice of FILE-TYPE when
you go to make an attachment. It offers to detect the file-type and usually
this is OK, but you could choose DOS TEXT or ASCII TEXT ( I do not have
a SACC-NET account and I cannot remember the exact wording.)

If you do change e-mail locations (for example if you move to SAAC-NET)
please tell me that you have done that by sending me the one line message
in the format (exactly the format)

        REGISTER_EMAIL ISYSnnn-nn  abcd1234

The quickest way of getting results is still to submit with TESTIT to

        tscrp@moe.acad.humberc.on.ca

However, I will be loggged in as often as I can get a dial-in line, again
on the weekendof 21st-22nd getting up-to-date with everything you have
tried to send me.
