Time of DeathWhat was I supposed to do here? Nothing but trees, small rocks and bushes around me. And something flying above me… !?! What the? A black figure with red glowing eyes charged at me from above, with a speed to match any vampire. I tried to get away, but I had only parts of a second before he would crash down on me. *WHACK!!!* I felt every bone in my body be pushed to breaking point, and they nearly gave in to the pressure. I lied face down, and felt the rage and strength of the vampire on my back. He was about to smash my head when I rose up, sending him flying backwards into a tree. I heard it cracking apart, and the thud of him going to the ground. Laughter. He was getting up again, laughing. “ Is that your best? “ he asked me. I didn’t bother giving him an answer, and started running away. Whoever he was, I knew that this fight could very well be my last. I could feel him rising up, setting after me at full speed. He was slowly gaining on me, inch by inch. Trees, rocks and bushes just flying by. The whole world seemed to be still whilst we chased in this dark forest, even though daylight had begun reaching the treetops above. He was too close. He slashed after me, and I could feel my wings loosing a couple of feathers from the blow. I grew them back in, and let my helmet grow down as well. I needed to have a full field of vision and be completely unhindered when moving my head around. He was within reach of me now. I barely dodged his blow, which teared apart the tree to my left. I took of into the air, flying fast just under the treetops. He followed, still a bit faster then me. Leaves and branches fell to the ground as we took narrow curves around the trees. He grabbed my right foot, and tried to pull me back. But I was too strong. I quickly saw my chances when the tree came up in front of me. I turned around, making him smash into the tree with his side, but he didn’t let go. I just felt the grip tighten, and him slowly trying to get on top of me. His left hand now got hold of my other leg, and he began to climb fast up my legs, onto my back. I could feel his red eyes starring at the back of my neck, and his fingers searching for my throat. I flew higher, trying to make him fall down from the battering from the branches. No use. He was the devil in disguise, not giving in to anything. I could feel his hand closing in on my throat, and the breath from his open mouth at the side of my neck. The fangs would soon penetrate my skin, and I had to do something, fast. I dove down to the ground, spun around and dragged him over the stones that lay there. He cursed at me when he saw the larger rock through the cloud of dirt made by us, just couple of feet ahead. Darkness. We came to at the same time, and I just got away from him before he was aware of the situation. I turned around to face him, and made a long spear to fight with in combat. He saw a stick lying on the ground near his feet, and picked it up. It was about the same size as my spear, but not as sharp at the tip. He looked strange at me, and the red color in his eyes started to fade away. Recognition? I swung at him at the side with all of my might, but he was to fast and was able to block it with not much of an effort. I followed up by spinning around, planning to strike at his other side. But he saw this coming. Pain shot through my hip as the stick crushed it. I screamed, but not for long. It began to heal up, and my opponent was stunned by my fast recover. “ Nice trick, but not good enough “ he said, and thrusted the stick at my face. Tentacles grew out of my chest, and halted the blow. Yet again, he was stunned by my tricks, but this time I took advantage of it. I smashed his stick apart with my spear, and made a roundhouse aiming for his ribs. He flew backwards from the kick, and I jumped after him to finish him off. He landed on the ground below me, and my spear was ready to penetrate his black heart. I underestimated him. He grabbed my spear just in the nick of time, and slammed me down to the ground. He was instantly on top of me, and both of his hands had my throat in a solid grip. Is this the end?...
