Sanctuary in HellA lone warrior sits beside a crude looking cross that has been stuck in the ground. The bodies of several demons laying about the area, their bodies disemboweled or missing members as they lay.His head rests on the hilt of his sword. His body in a kneeling position as he faces the cross. His brow running with sweat and his hair losing it's color. He kneels as if praying. His mind in deep thought. "How long has it been, days?months? years? I have been here for what seems to be forever." The warrior bones have become weary of the many battles he has fought. It seems that all he does is battle. All he does is fight to keep the demons away from the small gateway. But after each battle, he finds himself weaker, more tired, as if a year has gone by. For some strange reason in this land of the dead, he does not require to sleep or eat although he is very much alive. He raises his head , looking at the cross. He wipes his short beard that has grown in this dark and desolate place. His lips mutter a singel word... Amen. He has been praying for the soul of Christa, he has been praying for the strength to keep on his quest, his quest done mostly out of selfishness rather than rightousness. This place around him, the area around the gateway is a place of peace now. A place of holiness, it drives the hordes of demons away. Keeping them away, not only with the cross but with the heart of the person that protects the area. Only a brave few demons dare to attack the sanctuary which he protects. He rises slowly from his kneeling position, his sword dragging beside him as his body aches with pain of countless battles. He hears the padded footsteps of something in the dark.A demon, daring to enter the sanctuary, to cross the protector and pass through the gateway. Unfortunately, the protector doesn't see it that way as he readies himself for yet another battle. Hoping to live past this one to keep fighting for the gateway. For the sake of the lives at the other end. For the sake of Christa's death. For the sake....of his atonement for his greatest sin. The murder of the one he loves.
