Homestead
1642 - (Retrospection) Dunnedin, Vanders
Over the next days, weeks and months Starrling continued to clean and organize her new homestead. The cottage was swept thoroughly and the small windows scrubbed, as well as the floors and walls. She took the furniture outside to deal with it in the sunlight and made each piece sparkle with cleanliness. Around and about the grounds and down near the stream she found a bounty of wild herbs and to collect and dry for use in seasoning, potions, herbal remedies and spellwork. She also started a list of things which must be purchased with the gold and silver she'd brought with her. This included basic staples to live, such as grains and seed. However, she also planned to secure a milk cow, some goats, chickens and sheep. In addition to the products they would provide her, she would welcome the company, too.
Within just a few weeks, she'd obtained all the items on her list and fallen madly in love with the animals. She'd not make a very good livestock farmer, that was certain. But for her purposes, she'd manage quite well.
Her household was taking shape and her family of animals settling in quite nicely. And then came that dream that would change her life.
