UNDERSTANDING THE
REVIEWS
MisterShoe's Reviews are based on a
five-point system, with four categories to
get a general definition of a movie, not just
my humble opinion. The categories are
SHOCK/SUSPENSE, as in the scare appeal of the
movie, ie jumping out of corners,
villian-over-the-shoulder-of-the-unsuspecting
-heroine scenes, etc. The second is GORE, as
in blood, guts, and slashing. This category
also spreads to define the amount of actual
violence in the movie. The third is CAMP,
which is a kind of humorous or satirical
element, ie Attack of the Giant Leaches from
Outer Space would have tons of camp, a movie
that tries to be serious, like Henry:
Portrait of a Serial Killer would have none.
Finally there is an OVERALL rating, which is
all-encompassing. The point values themselves
range from 0 TO 5, but will usually range
from 1 TO 4, with zero reserved for a movie
with absoluely none of that category, and 5
reserved for only the best of that category
in film.
