This movie
attempts to be a statement about consumerism
and materialism in a society that
overendulges in anything and everything it
finds enjoyable- attempts to be. It ends up
being a sattire with too many links to The
Blob and not enough value to stomach. The
plot involves a bubbly yogurt-type 'stuff'
that comes up from the ground and ends up
being America's new favorite dessert. But
when people eat it, they become mindless
zombies. No one can escape the stuff. If you
don't want to eat it, there's someone trying
to feed it too you. It actually draws from
Return of the Living Dead, as well, being
that the whole thing has something to do with
the government. Bad acting and slow moving
plot make "The Stuff" boring enough to avoid.
Go rent the original Blob and any one of the
Living Dead movies of the late 70's- early
80's and get the same effect that will leave
a better taste in your mouth.
