I contemplated giving this movie a three word review that went something like this: DON'T RENT THIS. But I was pretty sure I'd get some negative feedback by those creepy criticy types who love this crass peice of film turd. And besides, that might spark some unwarranted wonder about this movie, which is what made me rent it to begin with. I'd heard that everybody loved it, that it was on everybody's 10 scariest list. Nonsense. This movie looks like a made for tv attempt at showing a murder's apathy. BORING! Who cares? Psychology wasn't meant to be this uninvolved and badly acted. From the godawful love interest bull to the plastic, overdubbed post-mortem scenes of Henry's (and his partner, who belongs on SNL chanting "da-bears" over a beer about 1/10th the size of his gut) victims, this movie sucks like nothing I've seen for a long while. I like to see what's good in horror movies because I know that they are often misunderstood, but this one deserves every misunderstanding it doesn't recieve. This pathetic flick has a very slim soundtrack, which many say it benefited from. Clever sounding in writing, but actually the movie would have been more captivating with a little string section here or there. And forget all the gore people claim this movie has- it's kinda like Homicide (the show) meets Mannequin (sp?). This just re-enforces my theory- if critics hate it, it's probably worth your money. And this time it works in reverse. So I'll say it again. DON'T RENT THIS MOVIE!
