Five short
films in a comic book style, straight down to
illustrated introductions and colorful
lighting, all written by Stephen King for the
screen. I gotta say that some of the stories
in Creepshow just might outdo many of King's
novelwork! The stories are presented with
an eerie wraparound involving a comic book in
the EC comics style, and a young boy who
purchases a voodoo doll which he uses against
his own father for throwing out his treasured
Creepshow comic. The stories themselves are
each quite good- "Father's Day" involves a
guilty daughter who killed her unappreciative
father on Father's Day, only to return to his
grave every Father's Day and grieve. This
might be the last time. I mean, all the guy
wanted was his cake! "Something to Tide You
Over" features Ted Danson and Leslie Neilsen
in a jealous boyfriend tale that has a good
element of suspense. "The Crate" involves the
contents of an old crate and how a mousy
passive-aggresive husband uses it. My
personal favorite is "Creeping Up on You", a
story about a Howard Hughes-esque eccentric
millionare who is evil to people and has a
serious thing against cockroaches. Another
story, "The Death of Jordy Verrel" is about a
redneck who discovers a meteor and features
King himself in the title role. Any real fan
of horror should check this movie out for
it's originality and quality, and people
looking for a good scare should see it too,
although the latter might find it a little
silly. If you're interested in more about
