~Daytona Journal~

2/7/99 Today was the first day I came to Daytona--as a race car driver!! It is very special to me because I have been coming here all of my life; not a as a race car driver but my dads biggest fan. I owe all that has happened to me too my dad and my mom; they are the only ones who have been behind me all of my life. Tommorow is going to be a very special day for me. It is also going to be a very big day. We have to get the car running good for qualifying on Tuesday. I think this is going to be the best year of my life, it sure has been one of the best days. 2/8/99 Man, I cannot even begin to tell you how special this day was. It was probably the coolest day in my racing career. It was a long day, but every minute was worth it. We ended up 16 in our last practice. Tommorow is THE DAY to see if we make the big race. I am really nervous, but I think we will be alright. 2/9/99 Today was a very long day. We did not run as good as I thought we would but we made the big race. We qualified 22 out of 65 cars. My dad and I were very nervous. I was sick all morning long. But thanks to the good Lord, we are in the race with a decent race car. I think we will be alright come Saturday.
