Lady Bug Rocks

Purchase or find outside some flat stones.Have the children paint each rock red using red tempera paint. They can use a Q-tip to make the small black dots on the ladybugs back. Then when ladybug rocks are dry, the children can glue them on a green posterboard leaf cut-out.

Paper Towel Roll Grasshoppers

Have children paint an empty paper towel roll green. After it has dried, have them attach green pipe cleaners for its legs.(punch holes along side of paper towel roll)Staple down one end of the roll for the head and add round orange paper eyes. These look really cute on a bulletin board!

Bumble Bee Hive

Cut out a hive shape out of yellow construction paper and have the children glue on back oval shapes onto their hives. After gluing the black ovals onto the hive, have them draw yellow lines across the ovals with a yellow crayon and draw two circle wings with a black marker. I usually write the word: Bzzzzz... across the bottom of the hive.

Song: I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee

I'm bring home a baby bumblebee.

Won't my mommy be so proud of me.

I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee...

Bzzzzz....OUCH! It stung me!!

Coffee Filter Butterflies

Have the children use watercolor markers to cover a round coffee filter. Then they use an eyedropper to drip water onto the coffee filter. The colors from the watercolor markers run together to make beautiful designs. You then gather the middle of the coffee filter together with an old style wooden clothespin.(the butterflies body)Have the children draw two eyes onto the round knob at the top of the clothespin and attach two small pipecleaner pieces(curled) to the top of the clothespin for the attenae. Can be made as a magnet if you attch a magnet to the clothespin. Very Cute!!
