My Summer Schedule!

Well, not really my summer schedule, but more my life in general...

I know you all care so much about where I am, why I'm there, and when I'll be back, that I made this page. So, if you're ever wondering just WHY I'm not answering your emails or something, check out this page.:

June 14: Out of School!!!

June 22: I left for my trip to Alaska.

July 1: I came back!!! I know you all must just be jumpin' up and down in excitement. Just to sum up what I did (yeah, real short summary...): I left early and flew from SFO to Seatle, and from Seatle to Fairbanks. Fairbanks was quite boring. It's not a tourist town at all (::grumbles about why she would bother to go to a town that isn't for tourists when she's touring::) and there wasn't anything to do there. Well, the Fairbanks Regency Hotel was nice. So I stayed one night there. The next day we (my father and I) took a train for four hours to Denali National Park, and then right after took a bus ride for six or seven hours to Denali Backcountry Lodge (which I totally recommend to anyone and everyone planning a trip to Alaska!), which was, as the name hints to- in the backcountry. So we stayed three nights there, and during the day went on a horseback ride and then a flightseeing tour around Mt. McKinley aka Denali (which is the tallest mountain in North America- making it one of the "Seven Summits" to climb- and is the tallest mountain in the world from base to summit...all very impressive). The second full day we were at Denali park we went for all day hikes. I hiked for six hours in deep mud. O.o

We took the bus ride back out of Denali- six hours this time, and then took a train ride for another four hours to Talkeetna- a small ex-gold mining town, which is 100% for tourists. We stayed for Talkeetna for one night only because there isn't much there except for tourist stores...which start to look the same after a while. The day we left Talkeetna we took another four hour train ride (all these train rides were through the Alaskan Railroad- which goes straight through the heart of Alaskan bushcountry) to Anchorage. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to get to a city! I mean, I was ready to get down on my knees and kiss the pavement because there was pavement.

I liked Anchorage a lot. It reminded my of San Francisco a lot, except the stuff in their newspaper would be a laughing stock if it was in the Chronical or Examiner...they were suggesting heated sidewalks. O_+

I didn't really do much of interest at Anchorage, we drove down to look at a glacier and then we visited a Musk Ox farm. From Anchorage we took a flight to Kenai airport, and from there we took a bus ride to a river...umm I don't remember the name, Alaska has a lot of rivers...and then we took a long rafting trip down the river to the Kenai Backcountry Lodge (same company as DBL- Alaska Wildlife Adventures, I think is the name of the company that owns them all...). KBL was really cool. I liked it as much as DBL, if not more because it was more laid back. We stayed there for two nights and then we took a bus ride to the Kenai airport, took a plane ride back up to Anchorage and then directly back to SFO. Nice'n short summary, don't you agree? *dies*

July 10-21: I took driver's ed. these weeks, and passed. Yeah for me! Aren't you all proud? Yeah, I took the permit test and so now I can legally drive. ::grins::

July 25-August 1: I went on a trip to my 'cabin in the bush,' which is in NorCal and I guess could be considered a summer home, but we only go there a few weeks, so it really isn't.

August 17-23: I went to Florida, and visited my crazy Grandmother (yes, my Grandma does live in Florida, like so many others). I got pretty sunburned the last day, and it wasn't a pleasant experience having to ride in a plane with a sunburned back, but now it's a tan so I don't care! I got back from Florida the day before school started...which was s weird because I was on the wrong time and had just gotten home. Ugh I had to do that last year, too, without knowing what the layout of the school looked like, though! It was a far less enjoyable experience doing that last year than it was this year.

August 24: School started! Augh!
