There is no point in trying to deny that, yes, Draco has done some pretty low things in his time. What I think we need to know is just WHY he did them. He must have some motive to do the things that he does and act the way that he does.
I think that his motive is his difficult family life. We all know from the first and fourth books that Draco's father was and still is deeply involved in the dark arts- right in Voldy's inner circle, in fact. It must be very hard on Draco to have the pressure of knowing that his father probably expects him to follow in his footsteps, because, so far, he has. They are almost carbon copies of each other, but I think that there is still more that Draco has to do to become accepted by his father- things that he is not looking forward to doing.
Draco may also be jealous of the closeness of the Weasley family and acts out his jealously in the wrong way. I think it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Draco has some pretty serious self-confidence problems to work out- and why shouldn't he, what with the lack of support he gets at home?
I agree with most everyone who says that he's a Death Eater in training, and I actually think
he already is one. I think that at some point he will be driven crazy by the amount of evil in
him and around his family and will either break down and show his true colors, or will become
so evil that he rivals Voldemort. Maybe he'll get suicidal...who knows? The point is, there
is more to Draco than meets the eye.
