AgriSurf
This a relatively new but very well-done directory of agricultural links. Includes a searchable list of over 5000 agricultural & gardening related links separated into 30 categories.
The Gardening Launch Pad
A large list of gardening-related resources on the net with 1700 gardening links in 60 categories.
National Gardening Association
A very informative and well-designed site. Includes selected articles from the current issue of the NGA magazine, a searchable article library, and a Question & Answer library and service.
Virtual Garden
Time-Warner's gardening website. A plant encyclopedia and loads of other resources. An online version of Barbara Burton's book, Gardening by Mail, and portions of Sunset magazine.
GardenWeb
Several online gardening magazines and resources including; Sesbania's Gardening Tips, The Rosarian, the Cyber-Plantsman, the Garden Spider's Web and the GardenWeb Forums.
UC Integrated Pest Management Project
The University of California IPM Project develops and promotes the use of integrated, ecologically-sound pest management programs. Their indispensible UC Pest Management Guidelines are now available online.
HomeArts: Bloom!
Hearst Corporation's gardening website. Gardening encyclopedia, book reviews and excerpts from their magazines. Also, team hosts the Botanica Club with Garden Escape (see above).

An introduction to the many ways children can interact with plants and the outdoors.

Composting

Cornell Composting
A good source of information on composting. Some topics may be too technical to be relevant for the home composter but much is still useful or intriguing.
Compost Resource Page
Nicely organized site with lots of general composting information and some good links.
Rot Web Home Composting
Basic composting information. Composting resource list and a list of home composting demonstration sites in North America.

Plant Pathology

PPIGB: Plant Pathology Internet Guidebook
An Internet resource guide for plant pathology, applied entomology and related fields. A bit technical but many resources are still useful for the home gardener. Note: The server can be a bit slow at times.

Online databases

The Plant Tracker
A huge database of plants with practical uses searchable by name, common name, family, uses, hardiness zone, soil types, moisture levels and pH requirements.

Herbs

Algy's Herb Page
A nice looking site focused on information on how to grow your own herbs, medicinal uses, recipe and seed exchange. Mostly links to other pages with some original content.

Orchids

The Orchid House
Loads of good information about orchids. Extremely informative. Includes information on all aspects of orchid culture and orchid showing. Pointers to several discussion lists.
The Orchid Mall
Maintains a list of orchid events, plant sources, services, supplies and software. The Reading Room is a collection of pointers to articles and essays on orchid keeping and culture.
