Rescue Resource Network ERRNet Seal Of Approval |
The ERRNet "Seal Of Approval" And How It Works:
Over the course of many years in the equine rescue world, a number of individuals, many of them having gone through bad experiences with rescue organizations, individuals, donors and adopters, decided there was a serious need for others interested in getting involved to have a way of making educated choices regarding those with whom they were getting involved in rescue-related work before committing themselves -- so no similar mistakes would be made and the guesswork would be out of the equation for future generations. The result was the ERRNet and our Seal Of Approval.
Advisory Board
The ERRNet has brought together a group of educated and experienced horsepeople who are knowledgeable not only about equine rescue but horsekeeping and care as an Advisory Board to make recommendations on rescue organizations which seek to gain the Seal Of Approval and become listed as an ERRNet Approved Rescue. We are currently accepting applications from competent individuals concerned about equine rescue and welfare. To apply for a position on the Advisory Board, please email the Equine Rescue Resource Network with a resumé and a 1-2 page biography describing your experience, knowledge and qualifications, or mail to ERRNet, P.O. Box 604, Apple Valley, California 92307. Also, if you know of a qualified individual who would be well suited to become a member of the Equine Rescue Resource Network Advisory Board, please contact us with information. We are still currently looking for individuals from all areas of the equine field (trainers/breeders/judges, veterinarians, farriers, attorneys practicing equine law, equine tax professionals, etc.) who likewise have experience with horse rescue. In order to do the most service to the horses we seek to protect as well as the individuals involved in rescue, it is vital we assemble a Board which can make sound judgments in a fair and equitable manner without prejudices in the best interest of the horses.
Thank you for your interest!
For Rescue Organizations Interested In Becoming Approved
Please fill out the ERRNet SOA Application, linked below, for consideration. All rescue organizations will be scrutinized under the same exacting standards and evaluated using our strict criteria. We use a variety of parameters to make a determination if each rescue organization meets with approval from all members of the Advisory Board, who then make recommendations for granting the SOA.
The Seal Of Approval Criterion
Factors which figure into the approval process are as follows:
Does the rescue organization submitting an application have written By-Laws, Policies and Procedures which are in accordance with Federal Law and the Laws of the State in which the organization is based? (copies of such By-Laws, Policies and Procedures must be submitted with application).
When conducting business does the rescue organization at all times in all endeavors follow the Laws of the jurisdiction in which they are located? (both Federal and State).
Does the rescue organization at all times follow their own By-Laws, Policies, Procedures and any other rules or regulations in effect at the time of doing business and engaging in transactions with the public?
Does the rescue organization have a management structure under which it operates? (a listing of officers and directors and their contact information must be submitted with application).
What are the qualifications of each individual involved in the management structure of the rescue organization to be involved with horses in general, equine rescue specifically?
How are volunteers solicited, evaluated and trained?
What programs (including fundraisers and educational involvement in the community) does the rescue organization have for promoting itself to the public as well as promoting good horse care and responsible horse ownership?
Does the rescue organization have written contracts under which they accept donated horses or adopt horses to individuals? (copies of such contracts must be submitted with application).
Does the rescue organization and all representatives thereof at all times engage themselves in an absolutely professional and courteous manner when dealing with the public?
What is the public safety record for the rescue organization as well as the individuals involved in such group?
In order to gain approval, all rescue organizations seeking such will be required to submit a list of all donors and all adopters for personal interviews, including those who were not able to be granted adoption, those who for whatever reason had their applications turned down.
From time to time these criteria will be evaluated by the Advisory Board and it will be determined if there is a need for the addition of more information or specificity of any particular item. The intent is not to discourage any rescue organization from submitting an application for approval, but to ensure the integrity of all rescue organizations the ERRNet endorses. We also welcome feedback from individuals and organizations on their experiences with requesting to gain approval from the Advisory Board and the Seal Of Approval process itself.
