Rescue Resource Network Getting Started |
The first question often asked about getting involved in horse rescue is, of course, "How do I get involved?"
This question is best answered by offering suggestions such as the ones on this page.
When you decide to become involved in the noble deed of rescuing horses, you must first decide how involved you want to be, and how much of yourself and your resources you can devote to the endeavor. You can search for a rescue organization near to you (though you always want to be completely sure the organization is 100% legal and above board), you can go to the horse dealers and/or the auctions and bid on/buy horses on your own, saving those who appear to be in need of rescuing (one of the best ways to be effective in this type of rescue is to identify the "killer buyers" or dealers at the auctions and take note of which horses they're bidding on) or you can start your own rescue organization and begin rescueing as an entity yourself.
These questions and concerns are all addressed here at the ERRNet. Please browse our pages and look into the information provided which will help you to make the right decisions and help you in acheiving your goals as a rescuer. Remember -- the most important actions of rescuers are those taken for the benefit of the horses you rescue! The horses are what these endeavors are all about!
