BAND BIO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Breaking Spree, formed in early October of 1999, combines the uprising edge of newschool with the chant-like choruses and (oi) anthems of the oldschool. The band consists of three members, Travis, Luke, and Ross. Ross and Travis played together and stood in for bands like Rejection, Strik, United We Fall, Jenika, and Next Day. Soon would come the fall of Ross' project, Chasing Edmond, a three year old, everchanging punk/ska band (that he played drums for) This followed the terminal decline of brotherly locals, Friday's High, punk/hardcore (Travis on bass and Ross again on drums). The two decided it was time for change. Ross and Travis had auditioned guitar player after guitar player until Luke entered the scene. Up until he did, Luke was somewhere on the otherside of town playing in the Witholders and filling in for other bands at parties and gigs. Completing the trio, Breaking Spree went on to reherse until Late February 2000 when they started putting together what would be the 9PWF album. The 8 song album contains a variety of punk rock, hard edge, oldschool, and even a little ska.
Example Review: Here's what Penn State Punk Radio 90.7 FM "The Lion" had to say about the band…
We can not deny our roots, but we should also not get stuck in them. The latest project from Breaking Spree follows this rule. Coming straight out of Florida with anger and speed, these boys know where they came from, and capitalized on punks past mistakes. Very drunk-punk styling, but it doesn't make the classic mistakes as those bands before us. Catchy lyrics, strong guitars ( a couple metal solos ), and a very competent drummer. This band has it all, including consistency. They have a very solid sound that doesn't jump all over the place; everything is placed just right.
Here's a little bit of what to expect in the future from Breaking Spree… well, I'd have to say we've been (in a few songs) reflecting our love for the NYHC scene, however it still has that Breaking Spree grind. Other parts of the album provide a perfect sequel to the 9PWF album. With songs like "Loudmouth" and "To be with You" that emit a beautiful fuck-you-core, street punk flavor. We even are doing a cover of The Blood's "Such Fun" on the upcoming album (yet to be titled) which by the way almost makes The Blood's version sound like elevator music. This new album should be released by mid 2002 and will contain anywhere between 15 and 20 songs. It will be recorded at our own newly renovated, D.I.Y. styled IRON FISH STUDIO located in the agonizing bowels of West Palm Beach.
