Actors Worth Watching
There are some actors who can make a bad movie better and a good movie great. These
are some of my favourite actors and the films that I feel are especially worthwhile.
This is by no means a complete list of films, there are other places you can go for
filmographies.
Russell Crowe
I've been a big fan of Russell Crowe since I saw him in The Quick and The Dead.
The movie itself isn't that great, although I really enjoyed it, but his entrance
was breathtaking.
Romper Stomper
The Quick and The Dead
The Sum of Us
Virtuosity
LA Confidential
The Insider
Gladiator (Oscar Winning performance)
Proof of Life
A Beautiful Mind
Heaven's Burning
Master And Commander
John Cusack
I've liked John Cusack for years. I first remember him as one of the geeks in Sixteen Candles, and then I watched his numerous other films. He got better and better. Now I think
he's one of the most intelligent actors working today. He's always interesting.
Sixteen Candles
Better Off Dead
The Sure Thing
Say Anything
The Grifters
Grosse Pointe Blank
Con Air
High Fidelity
Being John Malkovich
America's Sweethearts
Identity
James Spader
It's hard to pinpoint when I first noticed him, he was just always there. He started
by playing villains in teen movies and gradually switched to the hero. Now, he plays
almost anyone. My favourite film of his is Jack's Back
, in which he plays identical twin brothers. It's a bit violent, but good.
Sex, Lies & Videotape
Jack's Back
Mannequin
Pretty in Pink
Crash
2 Days in the Valley
Stargate
The Watcher
The Secretary
Aidan Quinn
I didn't notice Aidan Quinn for a long time. And then I noticed he was everywhere.
In Legends of the Fall
he held his own against Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt, and in Blink
he proved that he can be a leading man too.
Blink
Legends of the Fall
Haunted
Practical Magic
Desperately Seeking Susan
Frankenstein
Benny And Joon
Chris Cooper
A few years ago on PBS I saw a movie called 1000 Pieces of Gold . The movie was mesmerizing and I fell in love with the story of a Chinese girl in
the wild west. I didn't really notice the actor in it. Then I heard about Lone Star. I watched that film and really noticed the laid back, tall, sexy sheriff. It was
a very interesting film. I highly recommend it.
Lone Star
A Time to Kill
1000 Pieces of Gold
Great Expectations
American Beauty
The Bourne Identity
The Orchid Thief (Oscar Winning Performance)
Seabiscuit
Joan Cusack
Yes, she is John Cusack's sister, but her performances light up almost every movie that she's in. Always a joy to watch for her off the wall wackiness.
Working Girl
Grosse Pointe Blank
Arlington Road
Say Anything
