Rainy, with a nasty thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Today was a strange day. I got up at my regular time, watched news and then decided that I should work on my dinner. So, I prepared Tandori Chicken for this evening. I had given instructions to one of my blog buddies this week, so I was craving having it again. I used some of Fumihiko's homemade Kaspian yogurt to make it with. I stuck it in the fridge to marinate and then got on with other things.
I wrapped up some of my friend's birthday present and then went out to get my bike. The older guy at the bike shop wasn't there, but his son was. I got my bike back and it was fine, but expensive! I'd broken a back spoke...remind me not to do that again. It's complicated to fix as they have to take the wheel off and that involves taking off the chain too. Still, I need my bike, so I paid willingly. I went along to the grocery store to see if I could score a fresh bagel, which I did. Yeah. I came home and showered. Then I finished wrapping the presents. I wasn't able to get them ready to mail yet though as they wouldn't fit in the envelopes. I'm going to have to use a box methinks.
I watched CSI this afternoon, the Las Vegas one. It was interesting. Then, Medium while I cooked my late brunch. We had a nasty thunderstorm while I was cooking and then torrential rain. I started to worry about leaving for work. However, by the time I finished eating and then doing the dishes, the rain had all but stopped. Yay.
I cycled off to work, and made quite good time. I set up the school and then taught my lesson. I think it went quite well. After, I did paperwork and the dishes. I called Fumihiko but there was no answer. At 9:00pm I sent a text message to say that I was leaving the school. It was quite a pleasant night. It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be, and it was clear by this time too. I got home safely and was surprised to see his car in the parking lot.
I went into the apartment and Fumihiko was really surprised to see me. He said," I was waiting for you to call me." I told him I had called him and texted him. He couldn't find his cell phone. For some reason he'd thought it was in his breast pocket, but it wasn't. He was apologetic, but I was a little ticked off. Not that he didn't come and get me. I mean, I got home fine, but it was another case of him not thinking about how strange it was that I wasn't home yet. My classes end at 8:00 these days....Why would I stay at my school much later than 8:30 or 8:45?
His video of The Langoliers had arrived today too, and he was watching it. He had ordered it from Amazon. Fumihiko is a total plane nut, and he's been trying to buy that mini-series for months. He wanted it on DVD, but it isn't out yet in Japan. The rental shops around here only stocked the dubbed in Japanese video so that was no good for me. He bought the subtitled one and started to watch it before I came home. Hmm.
I made supper and it was darn good. We had our tandori chicken (oh my goodness, it was so delicious), broccoli and a daikon salad. Everything was quite yummy. It's really sad. I can make a mean tandori chicken, but I've never been to India. I've lived in Japan for 10 years and I can't do any Japanese style cooking. We drank some chai with our meal. Nice. Fumihiko did the dishes afterwards, which was fair as I'd done ALL of the cooking tonight! Well, he did most of the dishes anyway.
After that he put on The Langoliers again and we watched the first half. I'd seen it before of course, but enjoyed it as always. It has some great character actors in it...Dean Stockwell (Quantum Leap forever!) and David Morse amongst others.
Later on, as I was at my computer, we both heard a funny noise. It was my computer. Sigh. I think it was over-heating even more than usual. I put it to sleep for a while and after it cooled a bit, it seemed better. Still, I think I'll have to baby it even more now.
That's about it for me again. I have to get off to work a bit earlier tomorrow so I should get to bed quite soon. Wish me luck!
Night night.
