Shall Come the Day, a tribute to the Goddesses

Shall come the day
That I will see you
In every sunbleached stone,
In every rustling leaf
In every drop of moisture
That has kissed the earth.

That I will feel you
In every breath of wind,
Every shiver of the earth
The sun on my face,
The moon in my soul.

That your arms
May be around me for eternity,
And not simply
When I'm at my lowest ebb.
That the tear brought to my eye
Is only your kiss to remind me
How much you love me.

That the oft painful
Warmth in my heart
Is only because
My love for you is mighty
And strong
And neverending.

Shall come the day
That I will hear you
In every babbling brook,
The wondrous laughter of a child,
The twitter of the crickets at night
And the song of the birds by day.

That I may taste you
In the clear spring water,
The crispness of fresh grass,
the salt of my own son's beautiful skin
As I lay my lips upon his brow.

Shall come the day
That I will smell
Your perfume
In the roses of summer,
The tulips of spring,
The pine of winter
And the crisp leaves of the autumn.

Shall come the day
That I will no longer need
To call upon you
But that you will
Always be there.
When this day comes
May my senses be open
To receive you,
All my blessed Goddesses
