Charlie La Fountain

Charlie La Fountain

Charlie La Fountain is a major media buyer who is concerned about the advertising actors strike and Tiger Woods' decision to honor the picket lines. He felt that Tiger only hurts himself because he can be replaced. Charlie says that many black actors can be replaced by others. When Cuba Gooding Jr was tied up in traffic while filming Jerry McGuire, they used Whoopi Goldberg for some closeups. Nipsy Russell stood in for Denzel Washington when he got sick during the filming of Hurricane. Charlie say it is easier to have other blacks stand in because of their teeth which shine. You can guess the callers comments. Many thought Charlie was being racist "since he says all Blacks look alike!"

Charlie La Fountain is an advertising marketing expert. He firmly believes that most Americans do things like listen to the Monica Lewinsky interview because the media tells them to. He is not like these people because he understands advertising methods. Through his time with an Indian guru, he has learned to turn off the message. He does not watch television events just because the media tells him to watch it. Of course, Charlie was the first to own a new VW Beetle and was first in line to see the new Star Wars movie.

Just after the new twenty dollar bill was issued, Charlie returned to the U.S. after about six months working overseas. He and his wife threw a party in which he handed out about $2000 in play twenty dollar bills. Charlie thought it was a big joke until he discovered that the Treasury department had changed the twenty dollar bill and he had handed out over $2000 in real money. The guests were very pleased but Charlie was livid that the Treasury Dept. didn't personally inform him of the change.

Charlie was going to give $150,000 to Phil's favorite charity, Our Friend's Place, on the condition that KFI give his two daughters a weekend radio show. He could not understand why they wouldn't do that.

Charlie weighed in on the Elian Gonzalez issue as have many of Phil's guests. Charlie believed that little Elian was seriously coached when he made his infamous video saying he was not going back to Cuba. Charlie said he noticed lots of Snicker candy bar wrappers on the floor while the videotape was made. He said he wanted to use the kid in a movie venture of Harry Potter he was involved in.

Charlie's daughter is getting married soon. She has not been the best daughter having had an abortion, been involved in drugs etc. but Charlie still plans on throwing a lavish wedding for her. In fact, it will cost about $75,000 ata posh Santa Monica hotel. Charlie has some ideas about making up some of that cash outlay. He wants the bridesmaids to do lap dances at the reception. They of course will be allowed to keep some of the money earned. The ushers will be parking cars before the wedding and will take tips for so doing. Charlie wants some of that cash also. Callers were appalled at Charlie's callousness.
