tears at midnight
silent or loud
tearing at my heart
perhaps clawing at yours too
the agony of your eyes
upon departing
a sight i cannot stand
a remnant of the very best time
an image of the worst of it, the end
verily, i loved you then
then, perhaps, more than before
tears in your eyes
you said goodbye
tears in mine
i turned and left
now, as i fall asleep
tears at midnight
silent or loud
tearing at my heart
perhaps clawing at yours too
painful as they can be
tears at midnight
silent or loud
with me to stay
they're all i have of you
they belong to me
