Proper Dress 4-18-99 Intro= -- There are certain garments that are acceptabel to come before GOD -- There are those that are not PLEASING unto Him -- When you look at the Title you may think I am talking about the Physical garement--WE COVERED THAT LAST WEE --Today we will look at some of The SPIRITUAL Garments we are to put on to be PLEASING UNTO HIM -- The Only Way we can Put these on is by HIS Grace! -- IN ourselves we can DO NOTHING --This is a VERY PRACTICAL MESSAGE -- WE must be sure we put on the RIght CLothes or else we will Clash! --if we dress improperly we are UNACCEPATALBE and REjected! --Most people will Avoid the person who is dressed impropperly because he is an embarassement to him --Spiritually there are things that we are to PUT ON and things we ARE NOT TO WEAR -- Spiritually we are TO STRIP off the OLD MAN and put on the new ** We will Look at Stripping of the the OLD MAN TODAY!! -- It can only HAPPEN BY HIS SPIRIT because in the Flesh we LIKE THE OLD MAN! TEXT: Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Points 1. Stipping off of the SINFUL FLESHLY GARMENTS I. The Garment on Lying a) The Beliver is to Strip off the Garment of Lieing! --Lying does at least 3 things 1. Lying misrepresnets the TRUTH! It Hides and Camoflauges the truth-- The person Lied to doesnt knwothe TRUTH so he Lives a LIE -- Lying WILL ALWAYS COMPRISE THE TRUTH You never have to remeber the Truth --It set you free But you will always remeber the LIE ;so your not caught Lies BIND you up / Crush your Spirit Habituall lies Evenatully cannt tell the differeance between the Truth and a LIE! --- Lying deceives a person- it leads us away from GOD WE deceive to get what we want to seduce someone to our wants to cover up something or hurt something --Lying /half truthes/ bearing false witness is DECEPTION It will cause disappointment bewilderment helplessness misunderstandings emotinal upheaveals * IN YOURSELF AND IN OTHERS Because it IS SIN and Clashes against the PERFECT HOLY nature that is in YOU!! STRIP IT OFF so you will be entire and wanting nothing -- WE must speak the TRUTH Mat 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. -- There is no sin in saying no - but there is SIN in say I will do then not doing!! -- WE are Members of one body and we must be sure the BODY is GETTING THE WHOLE TRUTH and NO DECEPTIONS!! ** Think of our Human bodies the reason we can function day to day is the Brain gets TRUTHFUL MESSAGES from the Senses-- If the Sense give Faulty messages then we will be injurded /mamed and in short order DIE --- How can we as HIS BODY FUNCTION PROPERLY and Health if we as the SENSES are no GIVING THE RIGHT MESSAGES to the Body -- we will DIE WE MUST SPEAK the Truth ANYTHING SHORT OF THIS IS SIN!!! It doesnt REFECLT the TRUTH that is LIVING IN US-JESUS b) Lying is against the 10 Commandments ( Are we free from the LAW??) Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Jesus came to fulfill the LAW-- It was Completed in HIM If it wasnt then we would all be DEAD// The Law was our Schoolmaster to lead us to CHRIST Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. It was for our EXAMPLE Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. --Lying is on of the Gross sins that defiles MAN! Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. -- Lying takes its stand from with the FATHER of LIES-Satan John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. -- Lying is closely assicoated with Idolatry- it causes a person to profess something that is not true! Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. -- Lying is not what it profess to be! 1 John 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. We must PUT OFF THE OLD LYING MAN We must but on the Garment of TRUTH in all Circumstances! II. We Must Stripp OFF ANGER!! a) Men do become angry- note the Scripture reconginzes this! Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. -- There are times ANGER is called for BUT WE ARE TO GUARD AGAINST SINNING!! b) What is WRONG ANGER This causes us to lash out/re-act/ hurt others/motivates us to do wrong -- THIS ANGER BROODS AND IS SELFISH habor malice will NOT forget it Lingers it wills and may seek revenge --this ANger Holds CONTEMPT ( RACA) it depises/ ridicules IT ARROGANLY VAULTES ITSELF UP and calls the other person EMPTY and Useless ! it rises in pride It walks over and tramples a person Its says that whatever ILL COMES to a person is Deserved and JUSTIFIED!! -- This anger CURSES it seeks to DESTROY an MAN Reputation/morallly/intelluctally/spiritually -- THE DEVIL Expolits Selfish ANGER! He will use this ANGER for his own agenda MUST NOT LET HIM USE ANGER AGAINST US AND A HOLY GOD!! ** WE MUST STRIP THIS ANGER OFF so it doesnt CLASH WITH THE SPIRIT THAT IS IN US!! b) There is a RIGHT ANGER/justified anger that is not sin We can be ANGRY with those WHO SIN WHo do WRONG Who Are unjust and Selfish in their behavior ** A JUSTIFIED ANGER is alway DISAPLINED and Controlled! It is a limited ANGER against the INJUSTICE THE DISTINUGHING MARK IS Justified anger it is NEVER SELFISH --It is a purposeful anger An Anger that seeks to COrrect the WRONG!! ** Saw a drunk Driver on the road= ANGERY I wanted my cell phone to call CHP I Wanted the WRONG CORRECTED MY Motivation was to SAVE LIVES I didnt SIN BUT I was Angry! c) Dont let the SUn go down on your ANGER- IF you do it gives place( victory) to the DEVIL! It you are ANGEY with someone GET RIGHT NOW or asap!! ---- Jesus is to HAVE the Victory in our LIVEs ********We must STRIPP OFF ANGER THAT IS SIN IT CLashes with OUR NEW MAN!! III. Strip off STEALING Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. a) Steal = to cheat- to take wrongfully from another But its Income tasx time) -- If someone else owns it and you take it you are stealing!!! It may be as simple as a pencil from the office of as complex as embezziling funds from a corporation --Stealing is SIN--You stand GUILT before GOD as a THEIF b) We steal from GOD!! When we do NOT REFLECT HIS LIGHT but Try to Reflect our OWN!! We are Robbing HIm of GLORY Due HIs name and HIS ALONE -- we Steal from GOD TIme adn MONEY No Prayer No Tithing/ offeriing No Bible Study WE ARE ROBBIN GOD THIS IS SIN SIN SIN SIN!!! YOU ARE STEALLING FROM GOD c) We must WOrk with the GOOD We must GIVE TO THOSE THAT HAVE NEED But dont Steal to do it Rely on GOD --He will provide! *** We msut STRIPP OFF THE GARMENT OF STEALING!!! IT IS SIN IV Strip off FILFY and Foul TALK Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. a) Corrupt= rotten;foul;polluting this includes cursing and coarse talk This includes Worthless conversation --this is NEVER to come out of our mouthes! -- A peson with a Corrupted mouth has a mouth that is a open Sepulcure- an open grave//It is a VILE STENCH in the Nostrils of GOD! Rom 3:13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Rom 3:14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: -- The Stench o fhte open Grave includes talk of off-colored jokes profane lanugae immoral suggestions --THis fiflthy MOUTH eats away at the Charecter of the SAYER AND THE LISTEREN IT IS SIN!!!!! IT is not CUTE!!!! IT is NOt MANLY!!! It isnt COOL!!! IT IS AN ABONIATION James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. James 3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. ONLY by His Power is our Tongue under control Strip off Corrupt Commmunication It Clashes with your PERFECT NATURE that lives in you!! VI. Strip off the garment of Being CONTRAY and Greiving the HOLY SPIRIT!!! Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. a) Greiving = to PAIN; to offend;to vex; to sadden!! When a person acts CONTRAY to the HOLY SPIRITS guide in their lives --IT CUTS THE VERY HEART OF GOD It is SIN!! HE IS GREIVED BY; 1. When we allow impure thoughts to pentarate our thoughts or lives Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 2. WHEn we BEHAVE IMMORALLY Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 3. We we act UNJUSTLY Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Acts 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. Acts 5:5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 4. When we Participate in ANYTHING CONTRAY to HIS IMPEACHABLE HOLY NATURE! Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. b) The reason we should not Greive the Holy Sprit is because of His Great Ministry to us//He has Sealed US!! --He has guranteed our SALVATION WE know we are REEDEMED! HE has GIVEN US A GLORIOUSE GUARNTEE He is with us NOW AND FOREVERMORE Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. ** WE should NOT GREVE THE SPIRIT STrip off ANYTHING that is Greiving the Spirit TODAY It Is not in HARMONY withyour Eternal SPirit It is SIN ITS IS CLASHING GET RID OF IT!!! VI Strip off UNKINDNESS Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. a) Bitterness= resentfulness, harshness sharp cold intense distastful resentful harsh relentless unpleanant rude cynical stressful --Any expression involing any of these is a SIN TO GOD ** GOd Desires to fill us with LOVE AND JOY GET RIF OFF wrath/ ANGER OUT OF CONTROL ANGER//Selfish and hatefulness Clamor ///Aguring fussing fighting quarlelling Malice///Slander hurtfl injurious speeh!!! STRIPP THEM OFF-- THEY ARE SIN THEY CLASH WITH YOUR INNER DRESS!!! We are to Be KIND AND TENDERHEARTED!!! GENTLE CREING AND LOVING COMPASSIONATE JESUS IS TO US AND WE MUST BE TO ALL MEN LETS THIS WEEK PUT ON JESUS and STRIPP OFF THE OLD MAN calllll
